Wacky Bucks are a made-up form of currency that Mr. Krabs pays SpongeBob with whenever he feels cheap or cannot afford to pay him his weekly paycheck, and the main source of pay in the Pineapple Playhouse universe.[1] They appear in the episode "One Coarse Meal," the video game Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated, and the Pineapple Playhouse shorts.[1] It also is used in SpongeBob Simulator as a currency for when the player finishes an objective in-game.

Description[]

In "One Coarse Meal," Wacky Bucks look like the US dollar. The only differences are that Mr. Krabs is on them as the President, the Krusty Krab is in the background, they say "Not Legal Tender" at the bottom, have their name written on them, and have clams on them. They also have the number one on all corners.

In the Pineapple Playhouse series, they also look like normal dollars, although they don't seem to have any value, just featuring dollar signs on the left and right, with a clam symbol in the middle.

Role in episode[]

Pearl asked Mr. Krabs for mall money. He gives the money to her. But when SpongeBob gives Pearl some money, she points out that the Wacky Bucks are not real currency. SpongeBob states to her that it is the money Mr. Krabs pays him with.

Trivia[]

  • The numbers on the bottom of the bills read "01123581321(...)." This is the start of the Fibonacci sequence, a sequence in which the next number in the sequence is the sum of the previous two.
  • Wacky Bucks are possibly a reference to Company Scrip. A form of fake currency companies would pay their employees in which could be exchanged for goods in company owned stores.
