Location

The Valentine's Day Carnival is an annual carnival held by Bikini Bottom every Valentine's Day. It first appears in the episode "Valentine's Day." It is near Mount Climb-Up-And-Fall-Off and is held on the pier at Goo Lagoon.

Role in series[]

"Valentine's Day"[]

SpongeBob takes Patrick to this carnival to surprise him with the gift he and Sandy made for him: a chocolate balloon. However, a group of chocolate-eating scallops start going after the balloon and Sandy has to delay her arrival. As a result, Patrick's Valentine's Day gift is limited to a handshake from SpongeBob because he can't tell him about the balloon prior to its arrival to avoid ruining the surprise.

Jealous from all the gifts SpongeBob gave to various people, Patrick goes on a rampage at the carnival and performs several villainous acts like cutting balloon strings and smashing balloon cart, ripping the costume off the heart man, attempting to demolish a ride, and stealing a little girl's heart-shaped lollipop and eating it.

However, he does not cause any serious damage to the property aside from almost hurting SpongeBob and the patrons, and eventually ends his rampage once Sandy arrives with his real gift, the chocolate balloon, though it had to take several worthless efforts from SpongeBob and the crowd to get him to turn around before Sandy called. He then takes a bite out of it and splatters chocolate all over the carnival, selflessly telling SpongeBob that he did not have to get him a Valentine's Day gift.

SpongeBob takes Patty to the carnival during the montage of the song "I Can't Keep My Eyes Off of You."

"Breath of Fresh Squidward"[]

It makes a cameo appearance when Squidward is shown riding on the Ferris wheel at it with SpongeBob and Patrick after becoming nice.
