Characters[]

Synopsis[]

Tying the Klop-Knot 040

Squidina pleads for the Klopguardians to not take her mother away.

To celebrate their anniversary, Bunny and Cecil watch a video of their wedding. Klopnodian marriages have many odd traditions, the last being the kissing of the wedding cake. When Patrick sees the cake in the video, he travels back in time and eats it. Two Klopguardians break the door of the house down to take Bunny back to Klopnod, since her wedding is no longer valid. Squidina bargains with the Klopguardians to complete a wedding by sunset so her parents can stay together. She is given a wedding law book, with the guardians making sure she does everything right.

First, Bunny and Squidina go to the attic. Bunny has a nice wedding dress prepared, but the Klopnodian laws call for something "old, brusied, stuffed, confused." GrandPat, who had been hiding in the clothing trunk eating a sandwich, matches these descriptions, and Bunny wears him as a dress. The next rituals involve Cecil spinning plates on a unicycle over a fire pit, and Bunny tossing a sink backwards.

After more traditions, the wedding tent has been set up in the front yard. Patrick gets the lawnies out of the tent to make room for the Klopnodian guests. With twenty minutes left until sunset, Squidina starts the wedding. Patrick is the ring bearer, until Squidina double checks her laws and sees that it is actually a ring bear she needs. The bear mauls Patrick, who then goes to play a traditional wedding march on whoopie cushions.

Bunny makes her entrance and walks down the aisle, with GrandPat being subject to pinches, smites, and torchings by the guests. Cecil has to deliver the cake to the end, but Klopnodian warriors try to attack him. He successfully makes it to the end. Patrick takes his seat but starts drooling when he sees the wedding cake. Squidina makes Patrick swear not to eat the cake and ruin the wedding again. Patrick is ultimately unable to resist the temptation and rushes down the aisle to it, but is stopped by the time closet suddenly appearing in front of him.

Tying the Klop-Knot 190

Bunny and Cecil complete their wedding.

A future Patrick comes out of the closet and tells Patrick he cannot eat the cake, because future Patrick wants to. The two Patricks get into a fight, to Squidina's horror. However, this winds up solving the latest Klopnodian tradition: the battle of the time-traveling children. The last ritual is to kiss the cake, which Cecil and Bunny do.

In the year three million, the future Stars are rewatching their wedding. The two Patricks come in through the time closet and fight over the cake, which lands between future Cecil and Bunny's hands. They kiss the cake, ending the episode with an explosion.

Reception[]

  • Kenny Pittenger said this episode received "good ratings" on its premiere thanks to the series' audience.[15]

Trivia[]

General[]

  • This episode's working title (according to a filename sourced from Scott Bern's website) was "PatrickShowKLOPNOD."[1]
  • This episode was put on the schedules and was going to premiere with its sister episode on Nicktoons on February 13, 2024 at 9:15pm, but "Dr. Smart Science" aired in its place instead.
  • Benjamin Kurzrock, who outlined this episode, implied that it took one year and a few months to produce.[2]
  • GrandPat said he had experienced a more glossy version of the future in "The Yard Sale," and there was no sort of futuristic counterpart for him in that universe.
  • Despite being copywritten in 2024, this episode was produced, completed, and released in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
  • This is the second time GrandPat has been used to cover something, following "Home ECCH!," where he was used to make up a bed for Squidina's home ec. show.
  • The title of this episode is a pun of the expression "tying the knot."
  • This episode was accidentally listed on Prime Video Canada, along with its sister episode. It was also accidentally listed with the name "Tying the Kop-Knot."
    • Gabe Del Valle referred to this episode as "Tying the Klopknot" when posting storyboards from this episode.[7]
  • According to Mike Pelensky, this episode is a belated Valentine's Day special.[8][9]
  • This episode was paired up with a rerun of "The Commode Episode" during the original American airing.[16]

Episode references[]

  • This episode is a follow-up to "Klopnodian Heritage Festival," which also revolved around the strange traditions of Klopnod culture. In the wedding video, Bunny wears the same outfit she did to the festival, and the Klopnodian flag can be seen flying from the tent the wedding takes place in.
  • Bunny saying "Fresh!" after the stuffed ferret flirts with her is a nod to "Mid-Season Finale."
  • Bunny and Cecil's wedding cake is the same cake that the former Star tried to sneak into the movie theaters in "Movie Stars." Both episodes were directed by Bob Camp.

Cultural references[]

  • The four things that Bunny needed for her Klopnodian wedding are something "old, bruised, stuffed and confused," which is a reference to the wedding tradition "Something old" that all brides have on their wedding day.
  • One of the time-traveling children fish on the Yekkle Gleek poster is wearing a suit and is holding a laser gun, alluding to the crewmates' designs in the 2018 video game Among Us. In the rough boards, the fish was directly modeled off of said characters,[11] but the in-joke was likely scrubbed off during the plussing and prop designing stages.
  • Originally, Cyberpat, the "Patrick from the Year Three Million") was written to originally be from the year "3000 XD," but Gabe Del Valle said that the "reference got lost down the process".[17] The "XD" bit references the emoticon symbol used in digital communication to represent extreme laughter, and its usage here is in of itself a pun on the term "A.D.," (short for "Anno Domini") which is used to mark years after the birth of Jesus.
  • Bob Camp redrew the fart bag instrument to take influence from Dr. Seuss.[6]

Errors[]

  • When Squidina first picks up the Klopnodian wedding law guidebook, her arm detaches from her sleeve.
