The Turret is an enemy in the console version of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game.
Description[]
Turrets are fish that hide in barrels. When SpongeBob or Patrick approach them, Turrets will try to shoot them.
In the levels "Bubble Blowing Baby Hunt," "Now That We're Men...," and "Welcome to Planktopolis... Minions," they are thugs. They are green fish with orange fins and purple lips. They wear red singlets with a picture of a skull and crossbones on the front and gray pants.
They hide in metal barrels with red radioactive symbols and they keep the barrel's lid open with their left arm. They wield guns in their right hand, which shoot small yellow torpedoes with a white and red target on their tips, purple tail fins, and light blue propellers.
Abilities[]
- Stealth
- Torpedo guns
- Torpedo explosion
Role in game[]
Turrets are the sixth type of enemy introduced in the game. They first appear in the level "Bubble Blowing Baby Hunt." They hide in barrels until approached by SpongeBob or Patrick, where they will peek out and use their gun to fire five torpedoes in a spreading manner, which can be spun back towards it if SpongeBob or Patrick's spin attacks are upgraded. The torpedoes explode when they fly into an object. After firing, they will reload by spinning their guns. They will turn towards SpongeBob or Patrick if they move out of range.
From the level "Now That We're Men..." onwards, Turrets shoot 14 torpedoes instead of five. They shoot seven torpedoes from left to right, before firing seven torpedoes from right to left. The torpedoes are also faster.
Turrets take one hit to defeat, and they give the player 20 manliness points when defeated.
Trivia[]
- They are most likely inspired by the Chuck from Battle for Bikini Bottom, as they both fire missiles and appear in dangerous locations; their missiles also sport the same design. The amount of and the way they fire their missiles also make them similar to Tar-Tars.
- Turrets are the only enemy in the game to have only one design.
- This means that they are the only enemy to not be associated with Plankton, as they do not wear a Chum Bucket bucket helmet, although one Turret does appear in Planktopolis.
