Synopsis[]
The story starts with SpongeBob going to his job at the Krusty Krab, when he is stopped by Mr. Krabs to tell SpongeBob that he's making him a delivery boy, and gives him a delivery seahorse as transportation. SpongeBob says "Hooray!" in excitement before asking Mr. Krabs who's gonna cook the Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob he's still in charge of cooking. SpongeBob then says "Hooray!" again before moving on to delivering. On his route he comes by Squidward, which he tells him "That's a funny helmet, Squidward." Squidward then tells SpongeBob that it's a racing helmet and that he's training for the Tour de Prawns, which is a seahorse race organized by a group of athletic shrimp. The winner gets a $30,000 check, and Squidward exclaims that if he wins, he'll never have to work at the Krusty Krab again. Squidward then rides off. He looks behind and sees SpongeBob making deliveries. Squidward rides faster to lose track of SpongeBob, but every time he looks past, he still sees SpongeBob behind him. Squidward shouts at SpongeBob to stop following him, but SpongeBob insists he's just following his map. Squidward looks at the route of the delivery map to find out it's the same route. SpongeBob comes up with the thought that he could race Squidward and deliver at the same time, and then Squidward groans. SpongeBob goes to a market to buy a racing helmet while Squidward meets up with salesgrouper Fred convincing Squidward to buy an expensive, top of the line racing seahorse. Squidward thinks about how fast SpongeBob was going before and abruptly buys it. On the morning of the race, SpongeBob makes his way to the Krusty Krab, which happens to be the starting point for the Tour de Prawns. Squidward is already there, still worried about how fast SpongeBob was going before getting an idea. Squidward would plant fake speed limit signs while SpongeBob is in the kitchen. Eventually, all the racers including Squidward and SpongeBob begin the race as the shrimp official says "Riders, to your marks. Get set. GO!" While all the racers are obeying the speed limit signs, Squidward just keeps going faster and faster while SpongeBob tells Squidward to obey the speed limit signs. Squidward rides past police officer Incidental 118, studying the speed limit sign and comparing it to the speed Squidward was going with the info on Incidental 118's radar gun. Eventually, Squidward wins the race and is given the check. SpongeBob congratulates him, sad that Squidward is quitting his job, but Incidental 118 hands him several speeding tickets that all add up to double of the prize money. Squidward is sad that he will have to work at the Krusty Krab now to pay off his debt, and that it would take him forever to get out of debt.
