Synopsis[]

To Pop a Bubble 043

Bubble Buddy's creation.

SpongeBob and Patrick go shopping at the general store, with Patrick getting a holographic yam and SpongeBob getting some bubble soap. Patrick asks him to make some bubble food, so SpongeBob blows him a sandwich. Patrick is unable to eat it, so SpongeBob decides to make something he deems more fulfilling: friendship. He inflates Camper Bubble Buddy, whom Patrick tries to eat. Bubble Buddy gets blown away by the wind, and SpongeBob chases after him. A frustrated Patrick comments that he should have eaten Bubble Buddy while he had the can.

To Pop a Bubble 110

SpongeBob sees Bubble Buddy's outline on the floor.

SpongeBob saves Bubble Buddy from Larry's javelin throws. He introduces the Frigate campers to Bubble Buddy, who fist bump him. They try to throw the javelin, but their hands are all too slippery, leading to injuries. Larry tries to stab Bubble Buddy with the javelin, but SpongeBob pulls the bubble out of the way just in time. He introduces Bubble Buddy to Squidward, which leaves his clarinet full of soap suds. He goes to pop Bubble Buddy with his clarinet, but SpongeBob escapes. SpongeBob blows a bed for Bubble Buddy next to his and wakes up the next morning to find a soap outline and suds all over the room, to his horror.

To find out who popped Bubble Buddy, SpongeBob sends bubble recordings to everyone he ran into earlier and summons them to the cabin. He accuses Larry first, suspecting that Larry snuck into the cabin at night and popped Bubble Buddy with a javelin. Larry is able to prove that he and his cabinmates were out all night looking for the lost javelins, meaning they are innocent. Next, SpongeBob accuses Patrick of eating Bubble Buddy as a midnight snack. Patrick claims he just tried to pop him, but the bubble was too slippery for him., proving that he could not have done it.

SpongeBob is out of suspects until Sandy comes in, explaining that they need to look at all the clues to solve the mystery. She looks under SpongeBob's bed and comes to the conclusion that he did it. He has a habit of playing pin-the-tail-on-the-sea-mule in his sleep, with all the campers having tails on them. Despairingly, SpongeBob hops onto Bubble Buddy's outline and begins sobbing. He absorbs all the soap, which gathers together in his body and reforms Bubble Buddy. He apologizes and says that Bubble Buddy can pop him to make it up to them, which he does. Popped and on the floor, SpongeBob comments that they finally solved the case and laughs.
