2020 is a leap year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar. This year a theatrical movie (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run) was originally to release in theaters but was moved to CBS All Access in 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, one episode was in the 2019 hiatus, "Escape from Beneath Glove World" is the only episode for this year to get over a million U.S. viewers, and this is the second year that new episodes premiere after Stephen Hillenburg's lifetime.
