As some of you may know, the SpongeBob Fanon Wiki (SBFW) has been shut down by FANDOM. There is absolutely no reason to bring SBFW drama to ESB. It's stupid, pointless, and just a waste of everyone's time and energy. If you contributed to SBFW and are also contributing to ESB, that's fine, as long as you behave. If you want to bring SBFW drama here or start a war, find some other place to do it. This drama will NOT be tolerated.
Yes, the data is retrievable. You can go and grab anything you created there. FANDOM shut it down due to policy violations. The SBFW has always had a lot of trouble with drama and trolling. I have been there through other situations in the past and it is exhausting and not worth going through. Of course the people there are upset, they certainly can be upset, but bringing their frustration here is not the appropriate outlet.
I would like to add that while I personally have very mixed feelings about the events of what happened, it's ridiculous to blame the closure of a wiki towards one user. If anyone could just close a wiki like that, I'm sure that someone would have tried to do it to ESB by now, with all the trolls we've had in the past.
People who don't disobey the ToU have no reason to worry about their wiki being closed. If you think that the policy is absurd, simply find another website. Even if I strongly disagree with some of "FANDOM"'s decisions, I acknowledge that they have the full right to do whatever they want to wikis on their website (that isn't illegal, of course).
What's even more ridiculous is taking it out on ESB. You know how it felt to have your work removed. Why are you going to put us through that for no reason? The vandalism really isn't helping your case, and even if it helps you feel better temporary, would you want to be known for that later on?
I thought Fandom took down SBFW due to copyright.
FANDOM took it down because of the "Toxic community"; among other things. (Just in case you didn't already know.) (if this was already mentioned in this thread, forgive me.)
Before you begin labelling everyone who's edited on that wiki "toxic" there were actually some pretty good people who have edited on the wiki, and some good staff members that were on there then left, etc. Not trying to start anything, just not trying to have everyone think it was 100% toxic, but yea, i do agree that some of it was toxic and i *did* leave the wiki earlier today because of personal issues. Don't block me just trying to clear some of this up, and if anyone has the ESB discord pls post it on my message wall :)
I think the main problem was that a lot of users could easily get into arguments (not always incredibly hateful or personal ones), and they’d easily be recurring, and some admins could also get involved in the arguments too.
I haven’t been that active on the wiki for a while, but it’s sad to see it go, as I’ve been a member of the wiki for a little over 6 years, and it’s also just about only two months to what would have been the wiki’s tenth anniversary.
Though I will admit, I do think admins were usually a little bit too lenient on somethings that went on, and I guess they just didn’t want to make the place too strict.
Oh well, it’s not as if I ever did a ton of stuff for the place itself.
No one on this wiki probably knows me, but I was an admin on the original SBFW. I don't even edit on this site, and I completely disagree with bringing drama from one site to another. It's ruining this community, as well as our chances of gaining the wiki back.
Before you begin labelling everyone who's edited on that wiki "toxic" there were actually some pretty good people who have edited on the wiki, and some good staff members that were on there then left, etc.
I also disagree with everyone on THIS site labelling all SBFW users as "toxic", as that comes under discrimination and I'd hope even a site like this that only really warns people would disagree with that too.
