    Hello everyone,

I want to collect any ideas anyone has for the wiki. Anything that would add to the wiki, make it better, etc. So, if you have any suggestions, please comment here. The administration will review all suggestions!

    Thanks!

    • 1) I was joking about the wiki shutting down. It's called sarcasm. Clearly you have no clue who I am.

      2) I think the wiki should be redesigned, honestly. I don't feel like it gives off a "spongey" feel to it. Not sure of the boundaries that wiki gives but I would love to see this. And I'm not talking about the home page...the whole thing should be redone. I know it would take time but I think it could be a huge improvement.

      3) Rename the wiki again. I think that's the worse name you could've done.

      3. I am not talking about the rename anymore. 16 months of discussion was enough and Encyclopedia SpongeBobia came out on top.

I'm talking about the overall look. Orange/mustard yellow isn't very appealing and it's bland. There are plenty of ways to make it look more spongey...with more than just SpongeBob. Sure you have the backgrounds but I'm talking about the design, navigation, each page, etc. needs to look more like a spongebob site. I think the main page is too cluttered, also.

      • 2. Ssj4gogita4: JCM has already started a discussion on redesigning the main page.
      • 3. Ssj4gogita4: That's right, 16 months:
      • Round 1: November 2012 - June 2013 - I opened up discussion and suggestions. There were 4 ideas that came out.
      • Round 2: June 2013 - January 2014 - I called for more suggestions. There were 39 different names suggested and Encyclopedia SpongeBobia was first introduced at a SpongeBob Universe meeting in June 2013. Encyclopedia came out on top of all 39 suggestions with a rating of 8 (9 support, 1 oppose). Every other suggestion was less popular.
      • Round 3: January - February 2014 - the top 10 of those 39 suggestions were discussed. Encyclopedia SpongeBobia, once again, came out on top with a rating of 11 (11 support, 1 neutral). Most gave the name a 10 out of 10. Also, 3 other names were suggested at this time.
      • Round 4: February - March 2014 - the top 4 of the 13 from the previous round were discussed. With a rating of 14, Encyclopedia SpongeBobia came out on top once again. The other 3 suggestions had negative ratings.
      • Final Round: March - April 2014 - Encyclopedia SpongeBobia was given 14 supports and 1 oppose to became the new name.
      • Also, Ssj4gogita4, it was about rebranding. We have gone through several changes in the past couple years. The name "SpongeBob SquarePants Wiki" was average, unoriginal, and outdated. We will still have great search results because Wikia does a great job with that.

We have had other backgrounds before, but this is the one that we decided on. If you have anything you want to say about the design and how you want to improve it, then talk to AW10.

Also, there is not much we can do about the main template of the look because it is still a wiki on wikia.com. It is not like we can just redesign the entire page. Also, don't suggest that we should leave this wiki because we already tried that and it failed.

What do you mean "stolen"? Also, all I was doing was helping. You should not have a problem with someone putting images into galleries. If you wanted to put them in yourself you should have done it right after you uploaded them.

In today's society, assuming gender is usually assumed as Male. However, you can assume what you want. Also, it's better if you don't assume, because then no one feels downgraded or otherwise.

I found it is a bit tricky to warn for false information because it is unknown if the contributer knew if the information was false.

Exactly. Patchy was a "caveman" for the Patchy segments.

No caveman appeared in the "Ugh" bits of "Ugh".

Technically, it did have Cavey, but he doesn't count because Patchy said that he thawed him out of some ice.

      • Slide show alongside galleries
      • Main page redesign (discussion already has begun)
      • Redirects for usernames
      • All info boxes with set image sizes

      • 1. 120d - we cannot forbid people from using "ironic" because they don't use it correctly. All we prohibit is profanity.
      • 2. Carkle - the wiki history is still under contraction, so I wouldn't put it in the top navigation bar yet.
      • 3. 120d - "I found it is a bit tricky to warn for false information because it is unknown if the contributer knew if the information was false." - then you tell them if it's false. You warn them. You teach them, not scare them away by blocking them.
      • 4. 120d - "You can not know if he or she thought it was true." - you can ask them, it's not very hard. Just go to their message well and send them a message.
      • 5. 120d - "As I said before it is hard to wan someone about false info." - talk to them. Communication is KEY.

      3. I am not talking about the rename anymore. 16 months of discussion was enough and Encyclopedia SpongeBobia came out on top.

      4. DJ Sponge: yes, some users do use user boxes and you can make your own.

      5. DJ Sponge: while today is the 15th anniversary of the first episode, 2014 as a whole is the 15th anniversary. Many of us in the administration are working on some big plans for the wiki for 2014. The rename and launch party for Encyclopedia SpongeBobia was just the first step, along with the creation of our Twitter account. Stay tuned!`

      6. Kidsview: there already is a search bar.

      1) I was joking about the wiki shutting down.

      2. It has a picture of SpongeBob on it, how much more "spongey" do you want?

      3. I totally agree with you. This new name is horrible.

Leaving the wiki suggestion was a joke. Please read above.

      • 4. Kidsview: on the top right corner it says "Search this wiki"

I'm referring to the entire wiki as a WHOLE for a complete redesign, not just the main page. The color scheme isn't really appealing, honestly, and I think it could be a little better imo.

I don't know if this is a wikia thing or if just this wiki can do it, although it would be a good idea for all of wikia.

You know how some websites make you go through a tutorial when you sign up. Well, that is my idea. A tutorial. It would teach new users to edit. This would make new users go through the guidelines instead of it just being a suggestion to look at them.
