The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300 was a NASCAR Busch Series race held at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 15, 2004. The race was broadcast on TNT.
Overview[]
Nickelodeon sponsored the race to promote the upcoming The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Two drivers also ran SpongeBob themed paint schemes. These drivers were Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson, who both raced for Hendrick Motorsports. Kyle Busch's car featured Patrick on the hood, SpongeBob on the side, and Dennis on the corner panel. Jimmie Johnson's car featured SpongeBob on the hood and side, and Patrick on the corner panel.

- Mike Bliss won the race, marking his first ever win in the NASCAR Busch Series.
- Both SpongeBob themed cars finished in the top 5, Jimmie Johnson in 3rd and Kyle Busch in 5th.
- The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie marketing campaign—SpongeBob SquarePants Burger King Inflatable, "Pants-Casso," "Watch Me," "Watch," SpongeBob SquarePants cereal, SpongeBob SquarePants Pop-Tarts, SpongeBob SquarePants Cheez-Its, "New Home," The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (3D Game), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (magazine), The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300, SpongeBob SquarePants Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloon, etc.—won the 2005 "Multi-partner Promotion - three or more partners (No budgetary parameters)"[1] Bronze REGGIE Award.[2][3]
- On May 9, 2015, a further NASCAR race took place in Kansas, known as the SpongeBob SquarePants 400.
