Characters[]

Synopsis[]

While floating in the water, Santa checks his travel magazine to see that Bikini Bottom has been voted the happiest town in the sea for the second year in a row. This causes Santa to think that he has missed the town, so he checks for the residents and notices that they are all at Kamp Koral. Santa puts his suit off and gets on his reindeer, Bludolph, to fly to the camp. He gets ready to place presents inside the cabins, but is stopped by SpongeBob and Patrick, who each briefly step outside their cabin. When they go back inside, Santa prepares to throw the presents inside the cabins, and hides as soon as sunrise hits.

The next morning, Squidward trips on a log that Santa placed outside his cabin. Afterwards, he plays his clarinet poorly, resulting in Santa crossing Squidward off his list. The campers all notice their presents and head outside their cabins, but are unaware of who Santa is. SpongeBob gives his mom's advice to the other campers of not accepting gifts from strangers. Patrick wants to open his present, but SpongeBob stops him from doing so. The campers then burn their presents in the fire. Santa tries to explain himself to the campers, but they are scared away because of his echoing voice and his boot being on fire.

The campers go to Mr. Krabs for help as Santa approaches them again. His breath gets into the campers' faces before being attacked and tied up shortly after. Santa then uses his fingers to set Christmas lights on the cabins and feed candy to the campers. Squidward advises the campers to spit out the candy and run away from Santa. They try to figure out how to get rid of Santa, to which Mrs. Puff shows up for help. The campers inflate Mrs. Puff to aim to take down Santa, who gets ready to leave.

Mrs. Puff approaches Santa and attacks him, setting off a fight between them, destroying parts of the camp in process. During the flight, the hat that Santa placed over Sandy's dome earlier falls off, waking her. Sandy prepares her karate gloves and climbs up Santa, soon noticing him. Mrs. Puff attacks Santa, causing Sandy to fall off and slide towards the bush that the rest of the campers hid in. Sandy explains to the campers of her knowing about Santa, but the campers are still unaware of his true nature. Irritated, Sandy climbs on Mrs. Puff, telling her to stop attacking Santa. With Mrs. Puff not stopping, Sandy opens an air hole on Mrs. Puff, deflating her.

Sandy explains to the campers again that the presents are not dangerous, to which they finally agree. Later that night, the campers are shown enjoying their presents as Mrs. Puff apologizes to Santa for the misunderstanding. Santa gets ready to leave on Bludolph, wishing happy holidays to everyone. The screen zooms in on Santa's boot, revealing Plankton being stuck there, as the episode ends.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • This episode was paired up with The Patrick Star Show episode "Just in Time for Christmas" during the Nickelodeon premiere.[12]
  • In this episode, Santa is a giant compared to the campers (most likely as a parallel between the human size and fish size), despite him being either roughly the same size as Bikini Bottomites or being only slightly larger than them in the original show.
  • Santa's role was originally planned to be played by a live-action actor just like the Santa in "Christmas Who?," but the part was never casted. This plan was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
    • According to Brian Ratchford, this was just one of many ideas for the series that were scrapped because of it.[13]
  • Santa needs an air helmet to breathe underwater, despite the fact that in the original show he is perfectly fine breathing underwater.
    • However, there's also the argument on how Santa's magic could allow him to breathe underwater.
  • Harvey is referred on Santa's list as "that one nerd kid."
  • Unidentified campers on Santa Claus' list include Alice, Hannah, Peter, and Wesley.

Episode references[]

  • Santa marking out Squidward's name on the Nice List with a red pen is a reference to "Goons on the Moon," where it's revealed that Squidward is on the Naughty List.
