Tartar Jellies are characters that appear as enemies in the video game The Cosmic Shake.

Description

Tartar Jellies are medium-sized purple blob creatures with one eye and a huge, gaping mouth in which they hold a giant bottle of tartar sauce. Attached to the bottle is a hose that the Tartar Jelly holds in its right hand.

Role in game

Tartar Jellies are semi-common enemies that first appear in Wild West Jellyfish Fields, and can be found in most of the game's other levels. They stand in one spot and, upon detecting SpongeBob, periodically shoot five globs of tartar sauce into the air to have them rain down on SpongeBob. Their aim is fairly accurate and the globs they shoot often land quite close to where SpongeBob is standing when they first start shooting. They take two hits to defeat. They drop four jellies when defeated.

• Tartar Jellies are similar to the Tar-Tars from Battle for Bikini Bottom, as both enemies attack by shooting tartar sauce at the player. Tartar Jellies are, however, more aggressive compared to their robot predecessors by shooting more globs of sauce, and are more accurate with their shots.
• When a Tartar Jelly starts shooting, the six antennae floating around its head rearrange themselves to form the shape of a reticle.
• There is an achievement in The Cosmic Shake that can be earned by bubbling ten Tartar Jellies while they're in the middle of an attack.
• An earlier model for the Tartar Jellies are present in The Cosmic Shake files.
  • Interestingly, the filename for them is called "Sprayer Range" suggesting this was the original name for the Tartar Jellies.
