Synopsis[]
Patrick wakes up and checks the calendar, excited that it is time for Swaptoberfest. When GrandPat complains about the holiday, Bunny explains that it was started by her ancestor, Finley, who had stolen from a neighbor and swapped identities with his neighbor Scaley to avoid punishment. The Swaptoberfest bell is winded, and when it rings, the participants swap identities.
The family removes their items and swaps: Bunny becomes Patrick, Patrick becomes GrandPat, GrandPat becomes Squidina, Squidina becomes Cecil, and Cecil becomes Bunny. Patrick decides to take a nap like GrandPat would, only for Death to arrive and take him to the underworld. However, he is turned away for Patrick not being the right person. Elsewhere, Squidina acts like Cecil and goes to mow the lawn, but cannot see due to having traded her glasses to GrandPat. She ends up getting into the car, driving into Granny Tentacles' house and crashing into the house.
Cecil takes out the vacuum and cleans, with the sound angering Tinkle. He turns the vacuum up too high, sucking out everything in the room. Bunny goes to Patrick's room and starts folding his clothes before realizing he would be messy, and makes a mess of his room. GrandPat goes into Squidina's room for a nap, and Pearl comes by, needing to work on a history paper. When she mentions it is about the Klopnodian War, GrandPat tells an exaggerated account of his heroics, and Pearl says the textbook says he actually lost.
The Swaptoberfest bell rings, making the family swap identities again. Cecil takes GrandPat's place in the underworld, and Patrick is Cecil, so he goes out to the car to drive. Squidward comes by and asks for his pay, which Patrick declines. He drives out the house and runs over Squidward. Bunny goes to Squidina's room and when Pearl asks for help, Bunny suggests they have a study break, and they have a pillow fight.
The bell rings again, and GrandPat, as Bunny, goes into the vacuum hoping for quiet. The bell rings again, exploding the vacuum. Eventually, the family is all dressed like GrandPat, and the doorbell rings. Squidina answers and sees Granny Tentacles, who is there for a date. Squidina gives her a date at Fancy! The family swaps out throughout the date, and they all have a wonderful time.
Granny Tentacles asks for marriage, and the rest of the family agree, except for GrandPat. They are officially married, and Granny Tentacles kisses GrandPat. Suddenly, Granny Tentacles removes her head to be Slappy in disguise. The minister then reveals himself to be Death. GrandPat swaps identities with Slappy and runs off.
