Sunđer Bob Kockalone (Serbian Cyrillic: Сунђер Боб Коцкалоне) is the Serbian dub of SpongeBob SquarePants. Nickelodeon also aired this dub in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia. It is also part of International SpongeBob SquarePants.

General dubbing info

The first dub was made by television station B92 in the period from 2002-2017 was premiered on the same television station. It includes seasons 1-10. Seasons 6-10 were also aired on Nickelodeon. After B92 became O2, the dub stopped frequently airing and rarely airs now.

In 2017 to present, studio Gold Digi Net started to, for the first time, dub season 11 and onward for Nickelodeon. The reason for the re-dub is currently unknown, since Nickelodeon premiered all season 6-onward episodes using the main dub.

All character and location translation are same in all dubs.

Trivia

  • Squidward's Serbian name: Lignjoslav, is based on: Miroslav, a given name, mixed with the word: lignja, meaning squid, replaced with the "Miro-" term.
    • It's also the same case for the Potty's Serbian name: Lončić, meaning a tiny pot.
  • The second movie and third movie is dubbed, while the first movie is not. The first movie was shown subtitled. In the third movie, main (B92) cast came back.
  • Studio Gold Digi Net, has not dubbed "Truth or Square," but B92 has dubbed it and B92’s dub for the episode has been used on Nickelodeon.
  • The episode "Truth or Square" was not fully dubbed (not all of Patchy's segments were dubbed).
  • The series has a huge popularity in Serbia. There are many DVDs, magazines, and a wide variety of merchandise in general. The main Serbian dub (produced by and aired on B92) became a cult dub, so there were many disagreements with the fact that the dubbing studio became Gold Digi Net in 2017 and that B92 won't dub SpongeBob for a long time.
  • Since Truth or Square and onward, the dub gave the birth to the new kids choir: Zoja Lukić, Nikola and Danilo. And while since the broadcasting of the It's a SpongeBob Christmas! special, Sofija Eraković also teamed up as the kids choir, used for the new Christmas theme song.
  • Coincidentally, the episode "SB-129" was renamed "SB-192" which is a reference to the network that airs SpongeBob in that country, B92.
  • The song "Sweet Victory" was dubbed, making this, Hebrew and Georgian the only dubs to have the song dubbed.
  • Mermaid Man and Triton have the same name in Serbian dub - Triton.
  • Mr. Krabs' and SpongeBob's voices were changed to males when Gold Digi Net started dubbing season 11. When B92 dubbed the show, both characters were voiced by Vladislava Đorđević who is a female.
  • In the episode "Sleepy Time," the Emily Dickinson poem was changed to "Među javom i med snom," a Serbian poem written by Laza Kostić. When SpongeBob visits Squidward's dream, he actually recites the same poem to the king. This is also the same case that the song "There was an old man from Peru", being replaced by the lyrics from the Bijelo Dugme cover: "Sanjao sam noćas da te nemam".
  • In the episode "Frankendoodle," while DoodleBob throws a bowling ball onto Patrick, he says "Srećan rođendan" meaning "Happy Birthday," rather than Finland.
  • In the episode "Party Pooper Pants," the comic book character Roxy Wisenheimer was replaced by Hägar the Horrible, which is also a comic strip character.
  • In the episode "The Camping Episode," the marshmallows are localized as "munchmallows," which were chocolate-coated marshmallow treats that were very popular in Serbia.
  • In the episode "Missing Identity," when Patrick finds a record of the band StingRay 5000 in a dumpster, the name of the band is localized as Pasta ZZ, despite being Đole Rahaja (Đorđe Lukić) and Branislav Petrović "Banana" were the past members of the band.
  • In the episode "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture," Patrick mentions that Mermaid Man will drink a coffee with a Kaymak (a Turkish food) and a cheese, rather than a cheese coffee, while SpongeBob is making a movie.
  • In the episode "Boating Buddies," the cowboy character speaks in its Croatian (Ijekavian) dialect.
  • Some male characters such as Incidental 6 ("Hooky" only), Incidental 40 ("Hooky" only), Fred ("Jellyfish Hunter" only), Clem, Stanley S. SquarePants, SpongeBuck SquarePants, and Ice Cream King were voiced by females.
  • In the episodes "Party Pooper Pants" and "Atlantis SquarePantis," New Encino was localized as New Belgrade, while the other episodes of the Patchy the Pirate era like "Christmas Who?," "The Sponge Who Could Fly," and "Ugh," it has its original name.
  • In the episode "Atlantis SquarePantis," Patchy actually mentions the song "Crna dama," by the band Smak, rather than Frampton Comes Alive! while he destroys the audio cassette. Also, when he talks to Potty on the phone, he mentions that he was stuck in the Gazela Bridge, rather than being stuck on US Route 101, since the setting is based on New Belgrade.
  • In the credits, Nikola Živković (the voice of additional voices, since seasons 6-10), was named as Džoni Fazoni, as referred normally to the character who is a stand-up comedy character played by himself.
  • Antonije Pušić (the voice of Twitch) was also best known for his pseudonym: Rambo Amadeus.
  • Zoran Kostić Cane, the man who plays the character Jack Kahuna Laguna, once stated in an interview that he loves the show and his family watches it every day.
  • Oliver Nektarijević (the voice of Painty the Pirate) is a member of the group: Kanda, Kodža i Nebojša, based in Belgrade.
  • Branislav Petrović - Banana (the voice of Awesome Eddie) is a member of the music group: Električni orgazam, thus the character Awesome Eddie was localized and given by his nickname: "Banana."
  • The only songs that were never performed in the Serbian dub are "SpongeBob ScaredyPants" and "Daydream Believer."
  • In the episode "Earworm," Squidward mentions that he will listen to the Radio B92, rather than a "little public radio."
  • In the episode "The Hot Shot," the character Tony Fast Jr. was renamed Moša; the name comes from the nickname of old Yugoslav footballer: Blagoje Marjanović.
  • In the episode: A SquarePants Family Vacation, Patrick's favorite meal Cheese Fizz was named Mayonnaise, which is a same case that Patrick references the shower-based brand Nivea, rather than a "old moisturizer."
  • In the episode: Ghoul Fools, Patrick says "Lenji Gašo", rather than "lazy-bones!", which is commonly a reference to the phrase from the song "Gaša", wrote by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, and when he's over the door, he says that the doorknob is peasant.
  • In the episode "Mall Girl Pearl," when Pearl is mad at her friends, she says "Jedite pipke," which means "Eat tentacles," instead of "Eat barnacles."
