Trivia[]

General[]

  • For seasons 3-present, only the segment where Painty the Pirate asks the kids if they are ready is dubbed.
    • However, for seasons 1-2, the entire theme song is dubbed.
  • This dub had multiple studios working on it.
  • Squidward's name is Calamar, which translates to "Squid."
  • in season 1, Karen is voiced by a male (Bogdan Uritescu).
  • Season 4-5 and 8-9 (dubbed by Fast Production Film Studio) has multiple recasts for several characters.
  • "The Whole Tooth" was the last episode to air on Kanal D before the series ended on that television network.
  • "Earworm" has the singer of "Musical Doodle" muted for unknown reasons.
  • Squilliam's name changes throughout the episodes:
    • In "Band Geeks," his name was "Calmarum Elegantum," which translates to Squidius Fancyus.
    • The Mediavision dub is somewhat consistent, keeping his name "Squilliam Mândrulescu" (Squilliam Proudman) in all of his appearances (excluding "Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful," where his name remains completely untranslated).
    • In "House Fancy," his name is "Calamian Luxian."
    • In "Back to the Past," he is mistaken for Squidward.
      • Additionally, he is the only character in the dub whose voice is consistent. Petre Lupu voices him in all of his appearances.
  • In "Pizza Delivery," due to the screen going black, the ending was left completely undubbed.
  • "Something Smells" keeps the "I just don't get it" error, having it dubbed. Fred also has a feminine voice in this episode.[2]
  • In "One Krabs Trash," when Mr. Krabs says "Look at me, I'm Errol Fin!," he directly references Errol Flynn.
  • Dubbing for "Penny Foolish," "Nautical Novice," and "Truth or Square" were completed in 2012 or before (for the former two) and 2009-2010 (for the latter), but the episodes didn't premiere until late 2017 and early 2015 respectively.[3]
  • In "The Algae's Always Greener," Plankton doesn't say that he reviewed "those foreign exercise videos his cousin sent him." Instead, he says that he reviewed "the badness of his wife's cooking," changing the line to "N-am evaluat niciodată nimic...doar cât de proastă e mâncarea nevesti-mii."
  • Bogdan Uritescu, Patrick's voice actor in the Empire Video Production dub, came back to voice Dorsal Dan in "Ain't That the Tooth."
    • Mihai Barangă, Mr. Krabs' voice actor in the Mediavision dub, also came back to voice the eponymous character of "The Goobfather."
  • In "The Camping Episode," when SpongeBob spells the name of the Campfire Song Song, he erroneously says "C-E-N-T-E-C-U-L." He should say "cântecul" instead, as "centecul" is a misspelling.[4]
    • He also has a different singing voice.
  • In "Frankendoodle," after Patrick's mustache flies off, he says "Ce e val ca valul trece..." referencing a Romanian poem written by Mihai Eminescu, "Glossă."
  • In "Momageddon," Squidward's mom has the same voice as her son.
  • The title of "Shanghaied" is "Câțiva centimetri mai târziu," which translates to the time card used in that episode, implying the translators might have confused the two cards.

Errors[]

  • In "Scaredy Pants," the French Narrator is muted throughout the entire episode.
    • This also happens in "SB-129," albeit the "2000 Years Later" time card is narrated.[5]
  • In "Neptune's Spatula," when King Neptune holds the clouds and shows Tom Kenny taking a shower, his voice is muted.[6]
  • In "Band Geeks," Larry the Lobster's voice is muted when he says "Practice begins tonight. 8:30 sharp." Sandy's voice is as well when she says "Looking to add fulfillment to your dull dull life?"[7]
  • In "Boss for a Day," Mr. Krabs' voice is muted when he says "What is it, girl? What do you smell?"[8]
  • In "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture," Squidward's "Voila!" is left in English.
  • In "SpongeBob You're Fired," all of Patrick's lines lean towards the right audio channel.[9]
  • In "Neptune's Spatula," a man coughing can obviously be heard before King Neptune shocks Patrick for the third time.[10]
    • A similar error occurs in "Hooky," where Petre Lupu can be heard at the beginning of the scene when Patrick rides one of the hooks like a horsey.[11]
  • In "Patty Hype," due to an audio mixing error, Larry doesn't say "Pretty Patties rule!" Instead, he says "They match our purses!" on a feeble tone.[12]
    • The scene where the three women say the line was also left undubbed.
  • In Bubbletown, SpongeBob's line "My eyes!" is left in English.
