The SpongeBob Fanon Wiki, abbreviated SBFW, is a SpongeBob SquarePants fansite where users could create their own spin-offs, episodes, and other fanmade content for other users to read and review. It was founded on November 8, 2008 by Arre 320, and was the second largest SpongeBob wiki, with over 12,000 pages, after this wiki.
It used to serve as the fanon wiki for the SpongeBobia network, before it was replaced by Fanonia SpongeBobia after it was decided via a discussion. A fork of the site, SpongeBob New Fanon Wiki, was opened on September 11, 2018.
History
The wiki was created on November 8, 2008 by Arre 320, who became inactive almost very quickly. After several months of inactivity, Ponyo Fan adopted the wiki in August 2011 and promoted JellyfishJam38, William Leonard and JCM, who would help her take the wiki to new heights.
In 2013, a collaboration with ESB was formed along with SpongeBob Universe, and later as a project. However, due to tensions between the administrations of the two wikis, the group was peacefully dissolved with a farewell address made by AMK152.
On September 13, 2018, the wiki was closed by Fandom Staff due to ongoing controversies and disruption, and less 2 months before its 10th anniversary. Most of the content was imported to a fork set up shortly after.
However, on April 30, 2019, the wiki was restored by Fandom Staff under the condition that no more excessive drama will be present on the wiki.
