SpongeBob Comics No. 85 is a SpongeBob SquarePants comic book that was released on October 10, 2018. This is the final issue of SpongeBob Comics to be released before the series' distributor, Bongo Comics, shut down.

Description[]

United Plankton Pictures is taking an extended shore leave, so #85 will be our last for a while. For now we present our 7th annual October assemblage of spooky submerged stories! In “Creature from Goo Lagoon”, Graham Annable (Grickle, Boxtrolls, Puzzle Agent) writes and draws the tale of a lonely monster…who makes the mistake of kidnapping Patrick to keep him company! Then, in “Dutchman Went Down to Bikini Bottom,” Derek Drymon (Adventure Time, SpongeBob SquarePants Movie) and Jacob Chabot (Deadpool Team-Up, Mighty Skullboy Army) team to show how even selling his soul can’t help Squidward’s clarinet playing. And Bob Flynn (Bravest Warriors) brings vampires to Bikini Bottom. All this plus facts about the deepest depths of the sea—by Maris Wicks (The Human Body Show) and SpongeFunnies by James Kochalka (Glorkian Warrior).[1]

Comics[]

The Creature from Goo Lagoon![]

A lonely sea monster kidnaps Patrick to keep him company. SpongeBob and Sandy must rescue Patrick by traveling into the goo of Goo Lagoon.

SpongeFunnies[]

A set of two comics. SpongeBob shows Patrick the "caves of mystery" in his nostrils. Later, he asks Patrick to pick which nostril leads to loneliness and which one leads to vast riches.

Dutchman Went Down to Bikini Bottom[]

Squidward wants to play the clarinet at the Krusty Krab's Halloween party, so he sells his soul to the Flying Dutchman for an enchanted clarinet that will make him play better.

Long in the Teeth[]

SpongeBob dresses as a vampire to attend a party that only admits vampire fish. When he arrives, he finds that all of the vampire fish are elderly and senile.

Flotsam and Jetsam[]

A gulper eel teaches readers about the bathypelagic zone, also known as the "midnight zone," and introduces an anglerfish named Angie. They discuss the adaptations that their species have developed to survive at intense pressures.
