The SpongeBob Code Catcher Challenge was an event where QR codes appear during SpongeBob SquarePants episodes. These QR codes can be scanned to answer questions about the episode. This is done by using the Nick Play App. The SpongeBob SquarePants episodes aired from 1:00-2:00pm EDT and from 4:00-5:00pm EDT. A Halloween version of the event, the SpongeBob Code-Collector HallowScream Edition, aired for 13 days in late October from 4:00-5:00pm EDT. A Christmas version of the event, the SpongeBob Code-Collector Nickmas Edition which airs holiday episodes of the show 1:00-2:00pm EDT, and 4:00pm-5:00pm including holiday TV movies, holiday special episodes from other Nicktoons such as The Loud House and The Casagrandes, and live-action shows such as Danger Force and All That.
An NFL version of the event called the Nick Play Code-Collector aired for 3 days on early January for reruns of SpongeBob and The Loud House for promoting the National League's Football Wild Card Game.
Only episodes from seasons 10, 11, and 12 aired in the July week.
Starting with the Hallowscream Edition, when the codes are scanned, a digital card is earned, which is similar to the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
The rerun of the All That reboot on December 22, 2020 during the Nickmas edition of this event marks the last time the All That reboot has aired on the main Nickelodeon channel.
