SpongeBob is the Italian dub of SpongeBob SquarePants that started airing in 2004 on Italia 1 (with Doraemon [1979 series] also airing on it's slot at the time before the split and launch of BOING, in which both series were around before 2013.). The Italian version of the intro has some different animations that are also seen in the Korean, French, Castilian Spanish, and Welsh versions of the opening. It currently airs on Nickelodeon and Super!, and had aired (rarely) on Boing. It is part of International SpongeBob SquarePants.

Trivia

  • In a few episodes, the theme song is played by Marco Carta.
  • In a 2013 Simpsons episode, they featured a video called "Spugna Roberto Quadrati Pantaloni" which translates as "Sponge Roberto Square Pants."
  • Unlike lots of other foreign dubs, this one does not have a name in a foreign language. It also does not dub the theme song (except for Painty and the kids at the beginning) and instead uses an instrumental version without any vocals.
  • The first seven seasons' title cards use the background from the opening credits with the episode name in Cooper Black.
    • Interestingly enough, a narrator reads the title card even though it is localized. This could be the result of dubbing the episode first and then localizing text afterwards.
      • Also, the narrator's voice seems to be SpongeBob's.
  • "Truth or Square" was the only episode to integrated the title card's background on the Italian dub until season 8.
  • On the Italian version of “Help Wanted,“ when SpongeBob returns to the Krusty Krab with the hydrodynamic spatula, he sings the 20th Century Fox anthem.
