SpongeBob's Secret Valentine is a SpongeBob SquarePants book written by David Lewman and illustrated by Heather Martinez. It was published by Simon Spotlight/Nickelodeon on December 23, 2003.

Synopsis[]

While playing with Gary, SpongeBob throws a kelp ball that accidentally hits Sandy. SpongeBob asks if she wants to play, too, but Sandy responds that she has to make a special valentine for tomorrow. SpongeBob assumes that the valentine is for him and goes to make a special one for her, but Patrick says that when "a boy gives a girl a valentine, it's a really huge deal!" Patrick is afraid that SpongeBob won't have enough time for his other friends and runs off crying.

SpongeBob doesn't think that Patrick is right, but he also doesn't want to lose his friends. He asks Squidward, who just got out of a bath, and slams the door after SpongeBob asks if he should give a valentine to Sandy. SpongeBob then goes to Mr. Krabs, who initially thinks that SpongeBob is referring to Pearl when he mentions a girl. He then calms down and suggests that SpongeBob go and spy on Sandy at her treedome.

SpongeBob takes Mr. Krabs' advice and goes to Sandy's treedome, but doesn't see her outside. He goes inside, where he sees Sandy making a large red valentine. She smells SpongeBob and tries to catch him, but he escapes in time. At his house, he makes a big valentine for Sandy. While going to give it to her, he learns that Sandy's valentine was meant for her mother, and tries to hide his own valentine. Sandy still notices, and accepts it, then "thanks" him by challenging him to a karate match. SpongeBob realizes that Patrick was wrong, and he spends the rest of the day doing karate with Sandy, as the book ends.
