SpongeBob's Nicktoon Summer Splash was a weekday afternoon summer block that ran from 2:00pm to 5:00pm[1] (extended to start at 11:00am during the block's final week on Nickelodeon[9]) during Summer 2000 and Summer 2001 on Nickelodeon. SpongeBob and Patrick hosted interstials running before, between, and after the show - with Squidward co-hosting, and Sandy in the control room. Other characters like Gary and Plankton appear in the block as well.
Every weekday, a different 3-hour marathon would be aired: Rugrats on Mondays, Rocket Power on Tuesdays, The Wild Thornberrys on Wednesday, Hey Arnold! on Thursdays, and Rocko's Modern Life on Fridays. Rocko only aired one week, and was later replaced by CatDog.[10] When the block was extended by 3 hours during the week of August 27, 2001,[9] each show got an extra 3-hour slot at 11:00am: Hey Arnold! aired on Monday, CatDog aired on Tuesday, Rugrats aired on Wednesday, Rocket Power aired on Thursday, and The Wild Thornberrys aired on Friday.
In 2002, SpongeBob's Nicktoon Summer Splash was replaced with Nicktoons Summer Beach House which was hosted by various Nicktoons characters and ended in 2003. In 2006, the concept of running weekday afternoon marathons was revived when Nickelodeon created another block called The Summer Nick Pack, which also presented Nicktoon marathons every weekday.
Both Australia and the United Kingdom featured variations of the continuously reincarnated summer marathons. Australia's edition of the block aired in December and January, which is summer in the Southern Hemisphere.[3] A few months later, the United Kingdom recycled the block's marathons during the Spring 2003 holidays (which started April 14) and renamed it SpongeBob TV, having the same schedule as the Summer Splash[3] - however, the block ran during weekday mornings instead of weekday afternoons, and aired for two hours instead of three.
During Summer 2003, Nicktoons TV US presented an extra-large Summer Splash running from 8:00am to 8:00pm.[3] (On Saturdays, the block gained 3 extra primetime hours, instead running from 8:00am - 11:00pm.[3])

Credits[]

This is the logo that was used during the credits
These are four examples of the credits during each show:
- Patrick asks SpongeBob what "those things" are, and SpongeBob tells Patrick that they are credits and they come after every episode of (insert show name here). Patrick becomes worried, but SpongeBob tells him that the credits also mean there is another episode coming up after a few short commercials.
- SpongeBob tells the viewers to stay calm and that he shall present more (insert show name here) soon, while in the meantime, Mr. Fish would like to make a "complaint." The latter tells the viewers that choosing the shows is hard work, so he asks them to vote for the Daily U-Pick.
- SpongeBob asks Patrick what's better than a Krabby Patty, and Patrick responds by saying "Nothing's better than a Krabby Patty!" SpongeBob agrees, then asks him what's almost good as a Krabby Patty, then tells him that is more (insert show name here), which is coming up next. Patrick agrees that it really is good, then says "I'm hungry”.
- SpongeBob tells the viewers to not move a muscle because "there's more where that came from right after the break". Patrick literally doesn't move a muscle, including his mouth, so he sounds gibberish. SpongeBob tells him he meant the leg muscles so the viewers wouldn't wander off and miss part of the Summer Splash. Patrick exhales and sits down as he says, "Thank Neptune! That was hard!"

Trivia[]
General[]
- Because the show was still around a year old by this time, the animation looks stiff and off-model, due to a more limited budget than the real series. The animation would appear closer to the actual show by 2001.
- The title card looks similar to the GBA and DS versions of SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis.
- This is the first SpongeBob-focused event.
- In the intro, the acorn on Sandy's patch has the same colors as the rest of her patch.
Errors[]

SpongeBob's offset eyes and overlapping nose
- During a split screen credits segment of from The Wild Thornberrys, when SpongeBob says, "As what I was saying," his eyes are offset and his nose starts to overlap. This was likely the result of the limited budget used in animation.
- In some of the scenes Patrick is seen with his season 1-era M-shaped eyebrows, and others he is seen with his newer Z-shaped eyebrows.
