SpongeBob's Director's Commentary is an unlockable feature in the console version of the video game SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis.

Information[]

It is a series of 13 commentaries all provided by SpongeBob SquarePants. Each commentary goes with each level. They reveal that the game is a production that was put on by the characters. This explains why there are numerous differences between "Atlantis SquarePantis" and SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis. Since it is a director's commentary, this means that SpongeBob is the director. The level "Operation: Trash Dash!" is the only level to not have the director's commentary.

Tanklantis Plankpantis![]

Transcript[]

  • [Opening cutscene plays.]
  • SpongeBob: Well, hi there, all you Spongeheads. Welcome to my director's commentary. I'll be telling you about the crazy things we all got up to when we were all filming for this game. Like in this scene, it's mostly just Plankton and a few of the Atlantean guys.
  • [The player blasts open the first door.]
  • SpongeBob: Plankton once told me he believed in the method school of acting. He said it was just no use saying he wanted to take over the world. He had to believe it himself. And I have to say, his performance was very convincing.
  • [The player moves past the second broken door.]
  • SpongeBob: A lot of this game was filmed on locations in the real Atlantis, so we all had our own trailers. Squidward said his was too small, even though he had the biggest. Mr. Krabs sold his. Sandy turned hers into a karate dojo. And Patrick... well, Patrick just got lost in his. We had to send a search party. It took them five weeks before they found him wedged behind the wraparound couch.
  • [The player enters the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: Oh, I think Plankton really enjoyed filming this scene - and yes, he's actually the driver in the tank. He said he didn't want to use a stunt driver - he majored in tank driving in college. In fact it took us a while to convince him to come out of the tank. He only gave up because Mr. Krabs promised to give him the secret formula to the Krabby Patty. Sadly, just after Plankton came out, Mr. Krabs accidentally... uh... dropped the book containing the formula right on Plankton's head and Plankton had to be taken back to the Chum Bucket for rest and recuperation.
  • [The player approaches the exit to the tunnel.]
  • SpongeBob: Squidward was actually asked to write the first draft screenplay for this very game, but it was rejected. Oh, it was a very dramatic script. After the first five minutes, me, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, and everyone else except for Squidward were sucked down into an ocean trench and lost forever, while Squidward regaled the player with clarinet solos and interpretive dance.
  • [The player enters the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Oh, I should also mention the Atlanteans acting in this level are all from the famous theatre company "Acting Players of Atlantis Regional Partnership," or "APARP" for short. They're known for their musical numbers such as "Atlantis Ain't Dry No More," "You've Lost That Sinking Feeling," and "Underwater Homesick Blues." Great guys!
  • [The player is about to shoot the last fence post.]
  • SpongeBob: Well, that's enough commentary for now. Later on Patrick will do a commentary on my commentary.

Amulet Adventure![]

Transcript[]

  • [Opening cutscene plays.]
  • SpongeBob: Ahoy mateys! Welcome to my special pirate-themed commentary for level 2. Argh! You know, we were so far ahead of the pirate curve! C'mon, move over Johnny! We were there first!
  • [The player moves past the first group of Ghost Pirates.]
  • SpongeBob: On this level, Patrick and I work as a team, all alone - uh - you know what I mean. Just the two of us on an adventure, with no-one else involved. Well, apart from Spat, my trusty spatula. And lots of ghostly pirates too... Err, so as I was saying, there were lots of people in this level! It gets very, very crowded and busy in these forgotten, secret caves. I think they need to make me bigger.
  • [The player uses the first three cannons in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: Sure the ghostly pirates may look a little scary, but they were all really friendly once you got to know them. They even gave me lessons in talking like a pirate! Let me give up an example. [clears throat] Wait a minute.
  • [The player approaches the first cannon in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: These cannons are just great. Patrick and I had hours of fun loading ourselves into them and being fired across the caves! Don't try that at home, kids! Everyone else wanted a go too, except Squidward obviously. He said it was 'ridiculous' and 'bound to end in tears'. I don't know what he means, we were being very careful and taking all of the necessary precautions. I used my inflatable underpants as a parachute and Patrick made sure to land on his head so he doesn't hurt anything important! Honestly, that Squidward - such a worrywart!
  • [Patrick continues moving after SpongeBob helps him in the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: Aren't these caves great? They're full of interesting things, like, like rocks! And darkness! And pebbles! And boulders! And more darkness! And those wibbly things in the dark corners of the darkness, but, err, I don't know what those are... Anyway, the caves seem like a great place for a vacation. Apart from the ghostly pirates and bottomless crevices... But they add that extra fission of excitement! Maybe I'll suggest it to Gary when I get back. He loves extremely-themed holidays. You should see him bungee jump - oooooo... POW! There's slime everywhere!
  • [Patrick uses the first anchor in the fifth area.]
  • SpongeBob: In this cave, you'll notice that we're picking up bits of Atlantean Amulet. Those aren't real bits of Amulet, of course, it is safely tucked away in the Bikini Bottom Museum. No, these are the fake, stunt Amulets. The Amulets went through a lot of changes over the project. Originally they were made of chocolate but Patrick kept eating them. Then we tried making them from real gold but Mr. Krabs kept, um, 'borrowing' them and the security staff had to chase them all over the place. In the end, we settled for making them from dried up, stale Krabby Patties.

Information revealed[]

  • The Ghostly Pirates are actually very friendly and have taught SpongeBob how to speak like a pirate.
  • Gary bungee jumps.
  • The amulet found in the game is fake and the real one is safely kept inside the Bikini Bottom Museum.
    • Originally, it was made of chocolate, but Patrick kept eating the pieces.
    • It was then made of real gold, but Mr. Krabs kept trying to steal it.
    • The final product was made of dried up, stale, Krabby Patties.

Errors[]

  • SpongeBob mentions that the amulet pieces are at the Bikini Bottom Museum. However, at the end of "Atlantis SquarePantis" and SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis, it is disposed of by an Atlantean Guard.

Snap Happy![]

Transcript[]

  • [Opening cutscene finishes.]
  • SpongeBob: Hi, it's SpongeBob here for the director's commentary!
  • [The player encounters the second security guard in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: You see here the venerable Museum of Bikini Bottom... It used to be a much bigger place but Patrick sat down on one of the old sea mines, and it was still active. BOOM!
  • [The player approaches the third sleeping guard.]
  • SpongeBob: Ah, isn't this place just great, I mean just look at it, a beautiful building housing some of the most beautiful works of art in the deep blue sea. [sighs] It makes me misty-eyed just talking about it.
  • [The player opens the door.]
  • SpongeBob: They used to have the oldest Krabby Patty in the whole world on display here, but somebody just told me Plankton ate it in an attempt to steal the secret formula. I guess that explains why he's so green.
  • [The player passes Mr. Krabs being chased by a security guard.]
  • SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs says museums are a lot like attics. You know, it's a place you put old things you don't want anymore, but you don't want to throw 'em away in case they're worth money, but you also don't really have time to sell 'em, because having a garage sale or throwing 'em up on Sea-Bay takes a lot of time and effort. But you get the idea.
  • [The player turns towards the staircase.]
  • SpongeBob: A lot of what you see here was found on the sea bottom. Patrick says he sometimes finds things on his bottom, but the museum didn't want to put them on display. Imagine that. I've seen them. You-you, don't wanna look at them.
  • [The player enters the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: The patties we used in this scene were all stunt patties. Highly trained. Each one is actually carved out of seaweed, and allowed to harden. So, no actual patties were harmed making this scene.
  • [The player opens the first door in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: My favorite room is probably the Prehistoric room... Squidward says it's because I'm naïve, simple, and clueless. [laughs] What a joker.
  • [The player passes under the large skeleton for the first time.]
  • SpongeBob: Sandy says that back in Texas, there's a squirrel museum, where they have the oldest nuts in the world.
  • [The player approaches the second door.]
  • SpongeBob: Squidward defines a museum as 'a permanent institution in the service of society and of its development, open to the public, which requires conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits, for purposes of study and education.' I think what he's trying to say is 'it's a fun place filled with rusty anchors, old bones, and funny pictures.' [laughs]
  • [The player approaches the second Jellyfish swarm.]
  • SpongeBob: Yes, we lost Patrick when we were filming this. He turned up in the gift shop. He was stuck inside a novelty hot water bottle.
  • [The player moves away from the dinosaur model.]
  • SpongeBob: The catering for the shoot was done by none other than Mr. Krabs. Oh, he was very generous, and he only charged the cast and crew twice the amount he normally does for a patty.
  • [The player enters the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: I really enjoyed filming this scene because I'm actually an amateur photographer. Oh, I got all kinds of photos at home... Ones of red jellyfish, ones of blue jellyfish, green jellyfish, pink jellyfish, yellow jellyfish, purple jellyfish. I did a slideshow for Squidward. He loved it so much he just screamed and cried the whole time.
  • [The player moves through the first Jellyfish swarm again.]
  • SpongeBob: Originally, this scene was going to be filmed in my favorite theme park, Glove World! But we wanted a more hands-on approach.
  • [The player approaches the second group of tourists.]
  • SpongeBob: The tourists in this scene are all robots powered by remote control. Oh, they were so realistic. Patrick actually dated one of them but he had to end it. He said she powered down in the middle of a date and it was a real turn off.
  • [The player approaches the third group of tourists.]
  • SpongeBob: Squidward said my performance in this scene stunk. Coming from someone with a nose as pronounced as his, I think that's a great compliment.
  • [The player moves past the fountain.]
  • SpongeBob: Plankton said he was going to take over this scene, but in the end, I didn't see much of him. It's funny because I thought I could hear him screaming something like 'Ow! Ow! You're stepping on me! Ow! You stupid sponge! Make it stop!' I dunno' where he went, maybe he just didn't want to stick around.
  • [The player approaches the exit of the museum.]
  • SpongeBob: And that is the end of my commentary. Good night, and good luck.

Information revealed[]

  • The Bikini Bottom Museum was bigger, but Patrick sat on a mine and part of it got destroyed.
  • The Bikini Bottom Museum once had the oldest Krabby Patty, but supposedly, Plankton ate it in an attempt to get the formula.
  • The patties in this level are highly trained stunt Krabby Patties made from hardened seaweed.
  • In Texas, there is a Squirrel Museum.
    • It contains the world's oldest nuts.
    • This point foreshadows a line in "Tour Trouble!" that Sandy says. If the player can last long enough with Sandy in the Art Room, she will mention the Squirrel Museum as the "Squirrel Museum of Nuts."
  • The crew lost Patrick during this scene.
    • He was found in the gift shop stuck in a novelty Hot Water Bottle.
  • The catering was provided by the Krusty Krab.
    • Mr. Krabs charged twice the normal price.
  • SpongeBob is an amateur photographer and has photos of red, blue, green, pink, yellow, and purple jellyfish.
    • He created a slideshow with these pictures for Squidward, who screamed and cried the entire time.
  • Originally, the level was going to be set at Glove World!.
  • The tourists are remote control robots.
    • Patrick dated one for a short time, but he ended it when the robot powered down during a date.
  • Plankton was going to be in the scene, but SpongeBob stepped on him.

Errors[]

  • The microphone that represents that it is SpongeBob from the commentary talking can be shown in the photos if the player snaps a picture in a certain position on the screen.
  • The captions misspell "stupid" as "stoopid."

Magical Musical Journey![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Hi! It's me, SpongeBob, back for some more crackpot commentary! Oh, this scene was just a great chance for us all to show off and strut our musical stuff. Oh, we're all very passionate about music, especially Squidward. Squidward says that I have a sharp ear for music and I'm great at hitting flat notes. These days I'm even better: if I concentrate I can harmonize myself through my own pores... [harmonizes through pores] D'you hear it?
  • [Sandy is about to start playing her guitar.]
  • SpongeBob: That guitar of Sandy's is custom built to play underwater. She calls it Nutsy because it's the first-ever aqua-guitar and it's made from seanuts, yeah! She's thinking of starting an underwater orchestra called the "Sandy Squirrel Seanut Symphony," or "SSSS" for short. I like her fluid playing style. [laughs]
  • [Sandy finishes playing her guitar.]
  • SpongeBob: That was a great chance to rock out! I love rock! Well, I love coral and polyps too, but I love rock!
  • [SpongeBob finishes singing.]
  • SpongeBob: It was around this point I totally run out of inspiration. I felt all dried up inside like the piano in my soul stopped playing. I worried that I'd pushed my music too far, that I overkelped myself - ruined any chance of singing ever again! I felt dizzy and light-headed like I was going to faint! But then I realized I had just forgotten to breathe. Oh, that bus was a great set of wheels, and me and Patrick actually use it for weekend trips to places like Rock Bottom. This thing is, it really is powered by song, so if you want to drive all night, make sure your snores are in arpeggios.
  • [Patrick finishes singing.]
  • SpongeBob: The bus driver robot that you see here... This was his first-ever film. But he's gone on to do great things. He now reads the news. Senior anchorman for a major network. They said he had so much more personality than the guy who was already doing it. You know, to me, music isn't music unless you can dance to it. Oh, we do a lot of dancing in Bikini Bottom. Oh, there's all kinds of dances. The jellyfish jive, the jelly belly, the sturgeon salsa, the winkle waltz, and the brimy bossa nova, and the fishy fandango just to name a few.
  • [Plankton finishes singing.]
  • SpongeBob: And that's all for now, friends of the sea.

Information revealed[]

  • The guitar in the scene with Sandy is a custom aquatic guitar made out of Seanuts.
    • She calls it "Nutsy."
    • She plans or, at least at the time of the commentary, was planning, to start an underwater orchestra called, "Sandy Squirrel Seanut Symphony."
  • SpongeBob loves rock music, as well as coral and polyps.
  • After the production, the Sea Ship Atlantis was used for weekend trips to multiple places, including Rock Bottom.
  • This was the first film for the Captain of the Sea Ship Atlantis.
    • He later went on to be a news anchor.
  • There are dances called the jellyfish jive, the jelly belly, the sturgeon salsa, the winkle waltz, the brimy bossa nova, and the fishy fandango.

Errors[]

  • The captions mistake "Seanuts" as "Sea-Nuts."

Bus Building Bonanza![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: I'm back for some more insider commentary on the making of this game. This was a fun scene because we were all together in the bus.
  • [The player collects the second toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: Most of the time Sandy was doing the driving. Squidward said that was because she's a control freak, but hey - she's the only one who knew how to work the controls! [laughs] In fact, the only time Squidward drove we went straight off a cliff, so we handed the wheel back to Sandy. No, I mean he literally handed the wheel back to Sandy - he pulled it off the dashboard!
  • [The player collects the fifth toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: I was going to drive, but everybody got out, so I guess it was a vote of no confidence. Hey! I've taken Mrs. Puff's driving course 857 times! Never mind, at least I got to look at the scenery which is amazing in this part of Atlantis. The gardens, and the mountain and everything - oh, spectacular! In fact, it made me think of starting my own garden back home. So after this was all wrapped up and in the can, as we say in showbiz, I started growing a little fruit garden outside my house. The only problem was the fruit I planted were pineapples and after a couple of months I didn't know which ones were for eating and which one was where I lived, and uh - I had to move in with Patrick for a couple of weeks.
  • [The player collects the sixth toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: Sandy is a very talented driver. She took an advanced course back in Texas run by some of her old squirrel buddies. The course was called "Driving You Nuts," which describes how Mr. Krabs felt during this whole scene. He spent the entire time under the back of the bus seat crying and singing old sea shanties to himself.
  • [The player picks up the eleventh toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick did some stunt driving for this section. He's what I call 'an instinctive driver.' Sandy agrees. She says he has the same instincts as a lunatic.
  • [The player dives towards the fourteenth toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: The other great thing about this bus is that bus robot, whose voice who can here from time to time. As I mentioned before, he's gone to do some pretty great things. Anchor guy. And we ALL know he was set for stardom after acting with him in this scene. Oh, in between takes he'd do a different speech from a Shakespeare play. Oh, he did all the classics... "Robot and Juliet," "The Robot of Venice," "A Midsummer Night's Robot..." What a star!
  • [The player collects the twenty-fourth toolkit.]
  • SpongeBob: I say that driving a bus like this is incredibly dangerous and incredibly silly. Dangerous and silly. Hey, that's what Squidward says about me all the time.
  • [The player drives towards the second-last set of buttons.]
  • SpongeBob: And that's all from me, for now.

Information revealed[]

  • Most of the time, Sandy was driving.
    • Squidward also drove, but he drove off a cliff.
    • Patrick was the stunt driver.
  • SpongeBob has taken the boating test 857 times at the time of the filming of the game.
  • The Atlantean Garden inspired SpongeBob to have a garden of his own.
    • When he got back home, he made a fruit garden.
      • It was a pineapple garden.
        • After a few months, he did not know which ones were for eating and which one was for living in.
          • SpongeBob had to live with Patrick for a few weeks.
  • In Texas, Sandy took an advanced driving course called, "Driving You Nuts!"
  • Mr. Krabs spent the entire scene crying under a bus seat, singing old sea shanties to himself.
  • In between takes, the Captain of the Sea Ship Atlantis recited a speech from a Shakespeare play.
    • These include plays like "Robot and Juliet," "The Robot of Venice," and "A Midsummer Night's Robot."

Tour Trouble![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Hey, I'm back for more commentator-tating.
  • [The group start walking.]
  • SpongeBob: This is where we first met the king, and I should point out that he really is a king in real life! He just does a little acting on the side, but he only wants to play other kings. Oh, he's played all the great ones: King Lear, Richard the Third, Richard the Fourth, Richard the Fifth - lots of sequels - King Poseidon. So here, he is acting as king. We did think of including him in the script because he is a king who acted as other kings, but then he would've been an acting king acting as a king acting. I think?
  • [The group pass Mr. Krabs holding a treasure chest in the treasure room.]
  • SpongeBob: Before a scene, I always like to warm up with some vocal exercises... So my tongue goes for a jog, [makes noises] my lips do press-ups, [makes noises] and my vocal cords do star jumps. [makes noises] After that, I'm ready to go on! I also like to learn my lines at the last minute... If I learn them too early, they just leak out of my pores.
  • [The group pass Squidward posing in the art room.]
  • SpongeBob: There is a small army of stylists and assistants that help us out when we're filming. The little people. For this game, I was looked after by a small whelk named Lawrence. Hi Lawrence. Oh, he's a great stylist. You should see what he does with my hair. I bet you're thinking "wait - SpongeBob doesn't have any hair!" That's how good Lawrence Whelk is!
  • [The group pass Sandy and Patrick in the science room.]
  • SpongeBob: Anytime the morale on the set got a little low, we sang this song. I wrote it, and Patrick and I would sing it every day to the others. It went like this: "Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Atlantis Portugal Atlantis Atlantis ATLANTIS!"
  • [The group approach the end of the tour in the bubble room.]
  • SpongeBob: I'll see you right back here.

Information revealed[]

  • Lord Royal Highness has played other kings. They are King Lear, King Richard III, King Richard IV, King Richard V, and King Poseidon.
    • L.R.H. was unscripted in this scene.
  • Before scenes, SpongeBob does vocal exercises.
    • His tongue goes for a jog, his lips do press-ups, and his vocal cords do star jumps.
    • He also likes to learn his lines at the last minute. If he learns them too early, they leak out of his pores.
  • The production used stylists.
    • SpongeBob's stylist was a whelk named Lawrence Whelk.
  • SpongeBob wrote a song to keep morale up.
    • He and Patrick sang it every day to the other members of the production crew.

Money Krabbing![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Hi folks. SpongeBob here with another Spongeadelic commentary. Spongeadelic. Is that even a real word? Maybe it's one of those fake words Mr. Krabs tells me not to use, you know, like "Sauropodomorpha" or "taxes." Anyway, you'll notice that this whole section is about my good friend Sandy Cheeks. Patrick was going to be involved in this part too but he thought Texas was a stupid name for an island anyway and Sandy hit him with her special karate move, the "Atomic Noodle Squeaker." He couldn't sit down or whistle for a week! Sandy is a pretty good shot with her Bubble Collector. I guess that comes from growing up in the wide-open spaces of Texas. Must be an amazing place to see. Filled with strange, wonderful, incredible things... [sighs] I'd love to visit an alien planet like Texas someday.
  • [The first wave of treasure stops falling.]
  • SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs really enjoyed himself here. In fact, he spent so long diving and swimming around in the treasure that every day after we finished work, he had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, out of the treasure room. Wow, that is real dedication there. Willing to give up his free time, just to get the scene absolutely perfect! What a thespian.
  • [The second set of treasure starts falling.]
  • SpongeBob: I remember one time Mr. Krabs found a solid gold statue in the shape of a solid gold statue. Oh, he carried it around with him all day. Apparently there's was a bit of a problem when the prop guys tried to take it back at the end of the day. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but let's just say Mr. Krabs had to go take a time out in his trailer.
  • [The second wave of treasure continues falling.]
  • SpongeBob: Some of the treasures we saw at Atlantis were really amazing. They had a diamond made of rubber and a bar of gold made of wood. Of course, the World's Oldest Bubble was their most ancient and valuable treasure but uh... Patrick popped it. But we've contractually agreed not to talk about it, so let's move on!
  • [The second set of treasure finishes falling.]
  • SpongeBob: I know I'm not in this level much and I apologize to all the SpongeHeads out there, but did you see my cameo? Right there? I'm not one to brag, but I think it was the performance of a lifetime. I nailed the pathos, the emotion that the scene required. Maybe I should be an actor? I can just see myself on TV. Maybe even my own show! Nah - who'd want to watch a show called "SpongeBob SquarePants"?
  • [The third set of treasure continues falling.]
  • SpongeBob: You know I once used my stand-up comedy skills to tell jokes about how dumb squirrels are, but they're really amazingly smart creatures. For instance, did you know there was a gray squirrel who invented gravity and a brown squirrel who invented cottage cheese? Well, that's what Sandy told me anyway.
  • [Sandy walks towards Mr. Krabs, who's hopping up and down.]
  • SpongeBob: Alright folks, I better head out. It's time for Gary's walk, and he really gets cranky if I miss it. It takes me a week to get the slime off the sofa. See ya!

Information revealed[]

  • Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob not to use certain words.
    • Two of these words are "Sauropodomorpha" and "taxes."
  • Patrick was going to be in the scene, but before they shot the scene, Patrick said that he thought Texas was a stupid name.
    • Sandy used a karate move called the "Atomic Noodle Squeaker" that made him unable to sit or whistle for a week.
  • Patrick thinks Texas is an island, while SpongeBob thinks it's another planet.
  • Mr. Krabs enjoyed the treasure room so much that after each day of production, he had to be dragged off from the treasure room.
  • Mr. Krabs once found a solid gold statue in the shape of a solid gold statue, which he carried around all day.
    • At the end of the day, there was a problem when the prop designers wanted to take it back at the end of the day.
      • After an unnamed event involving the designers, Mr. Krabs had to take a time out in his trailer.
  • Sandy told SpongeBob that an unnamed gray squirrel invented gravity and that an unnamed brown squirrel invented cottage cheese.
  • Gary gets cranky if SpongeBob doesn't take him out for a walk.
    • If he does miss it, Gary puts slime all over the sofa, and it takes SpongeBob a week to get it off.

Errors[]

  • Despite SpongeBob saying that Patrick isn't in this scene, Patrick can be seen moving into view while waving at Sandy.
  • The captions mistake, "I nailed the pathos, the emotion..." as "I nailed the pathos and emotion..."

Squidward The Poser![]

Transcript[]

  • [Squidward strikes his first pose for the first painting.]
  • SpongeBob: Hiya, time for some more director's commentary.
  • [Squidward strikes his fourth pose for the first painting.]
  • SpongeBob: Oh, this was a dream come true for Squidward... A chance to pose without anyone throwing anything at him.
  • [Squidward strikes his first pose for the second painting.]
  • SpongeBob: Don't tell Squidward I said this, but sometimes he takes himself too seriously. So I try to help him loosen up and have a little fun by blowing bubbles in his eyes, or screaming in his ear! Sometimes both at the same time.
  • [Squidward strikes his sixth pose for the second painting.]
  • SpongeBob: Squidward taught me all about art. When I first started out, the only thing I could draw was a perfect circle, and a few detailed portraits and finely worked sculptures, but in the end, I had mastered the squiggly line, the scribble, the pile of ruined marble!
  • [Squidward strikes his first pose for the third painting.]
  • SpongeBob: I told Squidward I'd paint his portrait for him, but he said he'd rather eat a kelp sandwich with hydrothermal vent hot sauce. So, I made him that sandwich and brought it over the next day. And after he ate it, he didn't seem that happy. He said it made his head hurt. And then he had his head in a bucket of ice for a couple of hours. So I did a painting of that.
  • [Squidward strikes his sixth pose for the third painting.]
  • SpongeBob: I told Squidward the other day 'Squidward, everything I know about painting, I learned from you.' And Squidward said 'Of course, I'm the only one with talent in this cultural wasteland.' And I said 'Sure, whatever that means.' And he grumbled something and he walked away. He's very deep. And a great guy.
  • [Squidward strikes his first pose for the fourth painting.]
  • SpongeBob: Squidward says that posing is also a form of art. I told him that he was the greatest poser in the whole world. And I said, 'I'm not a poser, Patrick's not a poser, Mr. Krabs - not a poser, Sandy's not a poser.' I said 'You, Squidward, are the posiest poser in the posing world. And when we finish this scene, I am going to organize the biggest poser party ever for you.' I was going to set up a huge stage and a huge window where he can sit, and people can watch, and pose all day and all night. And then, he said posing really isn't a form of art, he was just being sarcastic and I told him 'Squidward, you are the greatest sarcastic guy in the world. I'm gonna organize a huge sarcastic festival in your honor.'
  • [The fourth painting is being shown.]
  • SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs surprised me when he said he thinks art is very, very important. I said 'Mr. Krabs, do you mean to say that it's a way for us to express our deepest, most squishy feelings?'
  • [Squidward strikes his eighth pose for the fifth painting.]
  • SpongeBob: And that's the end of my commentary. See you soon.

Information revealed[]

  • This scene was a dream come true for Squidward, as it was a chance to pose without anything being thrown at him.
  • SpongeBob tries to loosen Squidward up by blowing bubbles in his eyes and screaming into his ear.
    • Sometimes he does both at the same time.
  • When SpongeBob said he'd paint Squidward's portrait, he said he'd rather eat a kelp sandwich with hydrothermal vent hot sauce.
    • SpongeBob made the sandwich and brought it to Squidward the next day.
      • Squidward ate the sandwich and said that his head hurt. He then spent the next couple of hours with his head in a bucket of ice.
        • SpongeBob decided to paint a painting of Squidward with his head in the bucket of ice.
  • After this scene was filmed, SpongeBob was planning a poser party for Squidward because Squidward said that posing was an art form and SpongeBob thought (and possibly still thinks) Squidward was a good poser.
    • Squidward then told SpongeBob that he was being sarcastic.
      • This made SpongeBob want to throw a sarcastic festival in his honor.
        • It is unknown if he actually threw the poser party or the sarcastic festival.

Paparazzi Patrick![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: [laughs] Welcome to my commentary.
  • [The player walks towards the third and fourth exhibits in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: So this was Patrick's big chance to shine like Squidward's big bald head. And he did shine. But that was mainly cause he swallowed the camera and the flash kept going off.
  • [The player opens the fourth pair of doors in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick's first question when we rehearsed this scene was 'What's my motivation?' Tough question. So we asked everyone. Sandy said his motivation was to do it just because it was there.
  • [The player enters the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: This was Patrick's first time with a camera. He had to take a photography class first. The teacher said that Patrick has a real eye for photography, as long as he's taking pictures of food. He gave me his final project - a great picture of a box of Kelpo cereal. Framed and everything. Beautiful.
  • [The player opens the second pair of doors in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: This section features the Knowledge Machine, also known as 'the brain of Atlantis,' or 'the mega-mind of Poseidon.' It's a real machine - with a real brain inside it - grown from real DNA taken from the real brain of Poseidon! In between takes, we'd all ask it questions. I wanted to know how Gary was. Sandy wanted to know how all the folks back in Texas are. Squidward wanted to know if I was ever going to be hit by a truck.
  • [The player opens the fourth pair of doors in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs had a few questions to ask the brain-machine too, including 'How much money do I have in my pockets?' When the machine told him, he started hammering on the glass saying 'How do you know that? You've seen it! You've got my money! Stay out of my pants!' We managed to get his claws off the tank before he was able to do any real damage. It was ugly.
  • [Two Atlantean guards roll out of a hole in the wall in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick said his favorite part of this was the space section. He's always wanted to be an astronaut. He says he spends so much time in his own world, he said he wanted to explore the other ones. [laughs] He actually took the astronaut test. He'd be the first star in space... Well, not exactly the first star... But anyway he said he failed the physical exam. Poor Patrick. He's even too heavy when he's weightless.
  • [The player enters the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: Some of the bubbles in this museum were the originals brought back from the deepest darkest caves by the great explorer Christopher Columbububble.
  • [The player face said the first exhibit in the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick said his favorite bubble was the cheesy bubble. He said the aroma reminded him of his sock drawer.
  • [The player is looking at the bubble to the right of the door to the World's Oldest Bubble.]
  • SpongeBob: Personally, my favorite bubble was the invisible bubble. You don't see one of those every day.
  • [The player enters the room with the World's Oldest Bubble.]
  • SpongeBob: And that's all the blah blah blah blah blah I've got time for now. Bye!

Hide and Sneak![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Welcome back to my directorial commentatorial.
  • [Sandy uses her lasso to pull open the first bridge in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: I love this scene - sneaking around the castle with Sandy - any chance we can work together. We were both hoping we might get nominated for Academy Awards for this. Can you imagine Best Actor SpongeBob SquarePants, Best Actress Sandy Cheeks? The envelope please... and then I'd say 'Oh, can I keep the envelope?' Oh, that'd really be something. Especially after my first acting teacher told me that I had no chance of making it. He said he'd seen pirates' legs that were less wooden.
  • [Squidward runs up the first conveyor belt in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: I had no idea that Squidward was so fast! I guess that's because he has four feet. He has to buy his jogging shoes in the case. It's true.
  • [Mr. Krabs collects the first pile of treasure in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: We weren't sure how we were going to do this scene, to begin with. It seemed impossible to find the treasure spots without a metal detector. But then Mr. Krabs revealed that his pockets could smell out the money. I didn't even know money had a smell! So I asked Mr. Krabs 'What does money smell like?' He said, 'Arr me lad it's kinda like a fresh waft of spring anemones and pine-scented coral, all washed down with a glass of old kelp.' What a way with words.
  • [Patrick approaches the first anchor in the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick is in his element here. Water! He's actually very interested in science. Especially chemical reactions where one thing can be turned into something else. For example, he has this giant gumball that he keeps old socks and bits of food and kelp and things in. When it reaches critical mass it transforms into a giant stinking mass of putrescence. Amazing!
  • [Mr. Krabs collects the third pile of treasure in the fifth area.]
  • SpongeBob: The amazing set designer for this scene was chosen from a special competition that we ran. The winner turned out to be Plankton. We didn't realize it, to begin with, because he'd sent in the drawings under a fake name - 'Sheldon J. Chumbucket.' But when he finally saw all we had done with his drawings he kept saying 'You fools, you fools, you did it, you actually used my blueprints to build me a private arsenal, hahahahah.' He was kinda disappointed when he realized it was all just a big painting and we hadn't actually made him a fighting force of tanks and missiles. I feel sorry for him. I really, really do.
  • [Mr. Krabs gets the paperclip in the fifth area.]
  • SpongeBob: This is SpongeBob, signing off. See you soon.

    • Mr. Krabs then revealed that his pockets could smell money, which surprised SpongeBob since he didn't know money had a smell.
      • When SpongeBob asked Mr. Krabs what money smells like, he told him that it smells 'kinda like a fresh waft of spring anemones and pine-scented coral, all washed down with a glass of old kelp.'

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Hey everybody. SpongeBob here again for another level commentary. I bet you can't wait.
  • [The player completes the second button combination in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: This is Plankton's adventure in Atlantis. He is so mechanically minded. While we were eating ice cream, peering at amazing artwork, and rolling around in treasure, Plankton was exploring the bus's cramped and dangerous exhaust system. What a curious fellow. All about science.
  • [The player gets past the first obstacle in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: Of course, we didn't even know Plankton was in Atlantis at this point. He stowed away. Hang on though... Haven't we already had the flashback level where Plankton's in the Atlantean tank? Well, that means we must know Plankton's in Atlantis by now. Hey everybody, do we know that we know that Plankton's here? Maybe we don't know that we know. Do you know? I'm confused.
  • [The player gets past the third obstacle in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: The funny thing is, Plankton could of just asked to come along with us to Atlantis. There was plenty of space on the bus. Why he could have stood on the dashboard like one of these cute little plastic hula-girls people have. I can just imagine Plankton in a grass skirt. [laughs] Actually, no, I can't.
  • [The player enters the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: Ahh, the Atlantean gardens. Full of very, very beautiful, and very, very delicate things. Until we crashed our flying bus into them. Of course, I wasn't driving the bus because I don't have a license and I'd never dream about flying a magical song powered Atlantean flying bus, although I did have that dream the other night about flying the song powered bus, but it wasn't me and I did not do the crashing!
  • [The player approaches the second obstacle in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: So, err, anyway, back to the gorgeous Atlantean gardens. A topiary filled utopia. It's a utopiary! [laughs]
  • [The player enters the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: And back inside the palace now! Wow, who cleans all these corridors? In all the time we were there we never saw anyone with a broom or a mop. Maybe they have some really amazing, hi-tech way of doing the cleaning. Of course, back home Gary does all my cleaning around the house. He always complains that I don't do it properly. Oh, he's quite demanding, you know?
  • [The player gets past the second obstacle in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Yeah, yeah. I know you've already seen the Atlantean guards chase us around. But they're actually really nice guys. Every day after work, a bunch of us would get together and have a Krabby Patty at the good old Krusty Krab. Of course, Plankton wasn't allowed in there, but he kept on trying to get in. Eventually, Mr. Krabs flushed him down the toilet! [laughs] Oh, that reminds me. Today is my day to mop out the Krusty Krab restrooms.
  • [The player passes by Lord Royal Highness and SpongeBob.]
  • SpongeBob: What can you say about Plankton? He's one of the most dedicated, focused people I've ever met. Everything he does, he's always 100% dedicated to being evil, and absolutely focused on destruction, mayhem, and domination of the entire planet. I don't know how he does it.
  • [The player gets past the last obstacle in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Thanks for listening, guys. When I come back, I'll be taking my commentary to whole 'nother level. [laughs] Have fun, but don't do anything I wouldn't do!

      • He also says that he could imagine Plankton in a grass skirt, but is unable to.
  • SpongeBob wasn't driving the bus when it crashed, due to not having a license.
    • He did, however, have a dream of flying the bus.

Squidward Super Shooter![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: [mimics newsflash jingle] This is SpongeBob SquarePants with a Bikini Bottom newsflash. This just in; more director's commentary!
  • [The player approaches the laboratory in the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: Now this was one bombastic scene. Sandy and Squidward really had their work cut out for them here. This scene was a little bit dangerous because we were using... yes, real ping-pong balls! And that ice cream? Well, ice cream can be very slippery if you stand on it. So, this ice cream had glue mixed into it. That way, it was half slippery and half sticky. It was slicky. Unfortunately, Patrick got his tongue stuck to some. I told him you should never eat off the floor!
  • [The player kicks open the door in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: In this scene, we debut some groovy new outfits for the guys playing the Atlantean guards. Whoa, did they look mean! And I tell ya, it took a lot of time to get them into those suits. Yeah, five days. I guess that explains why they seem so grouchy.
  • [The player enters the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Sandy had to do a lot of extra training to be fit as a Texas fiddle for this level. She put together a whole exercise program. First, she went to Karate Island to spar with Master Udon. Then she took up wrestling with the Tattletale Strangler. And last, but not least, she did a little arm wrestling with Larry the Lobster. What a squirrel! She worked out so hard that I got cramps just watching her.
  • [The player enters the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: It will come as no surprise to hear that Squidward was none too happy with this scene. In fact, I'm shocked he agreed to be in it at all! In the end, we had to give him a whole bunch of stuff to make him agree to play the part of the ping pong blaster. First, he demanded an early morning foot massage before each day's filming. Next, he wanted a week off work at the Krusty Krab with pay. That made Mr. Krabs pass out. Then he said he wanted a second midday foot massage and a new clarinet with replacement reeds. Next, an evening foot massage and a special exhibition of his art at the Bikini Bottom Museum - not that anyone was in attendance. Oh, except for that one lady... who left screaming. And last, but not least, a midnight foot massage. Oh, and a new luxury bathroom suite. And soundproofing for his whole house. And an expensive meal at a fancy restaurant. And a foot massage. And another foot massage. And another foot massage. And another foot massage. And one more.
  • [The player faces off against the last wave of Atlantean guards.]
  • SpongeBob: Well I hope you enjoyed another informative insightful insight into the world of Atlantis SquarePantis.
  • [The player opens the exit in the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: This is SpongeBob punching out! [laughs]

Information revealed[]

  • This scene was dangerous due to the fact that real ping-pong balls were used.
  • The ice cream had glue mixed into it to make it less slippery.
    • Patrick licked some that was on the floor and got his tongue stuck to it.
  • This scene was the debut of new outfits for the Atlantean guards.
    • It took five days to get them into the suits, which possibly explains their grouchy expressions.
  • In order to be ready for this level, Sandy organized an entire training program.
  • The cast had to give Squidward many presents and gifts in order for him to agree to be the ping pong blaster. The list includes:
    • A morning foot massage before the day's filming.
    • A week off work from the Krusty Krab with pay (this caused Mr. Krabs to pass out).
    • A midday foot massage and a new clarinet with replacement reeds.
    • An evening foot massage and an exhibition of his art in the Bikini Bottom Museum (the only person who attended was a lady who ran away screaming).
    • A midnight foot massage.
    • A new luxury bathroom suite.
    • Soundproofing for his entire house.
    • An expensive meal at a fancy restaurant.
    • Five more foot massages.

Super Tank Showdown![]

Transcript[]

  • [Level starts.]
  • SpongeBob: Welcome back for our final commentarial installment.
  • [The player opens the first door.]
  • SpongeBob: Astronomy is a real interest of mine. In fact, I've been asked to name a newly discovered planet by the Bikini Bottom Space Agency. I took a look through their telescope and I saw this new planet... it's kinda yellow, shaped like a square, lots of craters and holes. I'm gonna name it after... Patrick.
  • [The player enters the last section of the first area.]
  • SpongeBob: Now this is great. The planet thing is called an orrery, and it charts the movements of the planets as they orbit the sun. Which was interesting because Plankton said that the world revolves around him. [laughs]
  • [The player enters the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: Plankton says that it was very frustrating to be in a tank that fired ice cream. I told him 'hey, that's the only way we could film the scene safely without actually destroying the real Atlantis.' He said OK, but he'd like to choose the flavor. He said 'what about gunpowder? With a nitro-glycerin syrup? And a dynamite wafer?' We went with strawberry.
  • [The player enters the windmill section in the second area.]
  • SpongeBob: I just don't think Plankton is a plant lover. I said that he looked like a Miniature Prickly Pear Cactus that had shed all its spines and he got really mad. He's got a cactus complex.
  • [The player enters the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: Patrick helped us to tidy up after we finished shooting this messy scene. Oh, there was ice cream everywhere. But you know Patrick is a giver. He stayed up all night cleaning up the ice cream with his tongue.
  • [The player enters the ice cream factory in the third area.]
  • SpongeBob: At the end of making this great game we had a big party, right there in the ice cream factory. Mr. Krabs wanted to go home and count his money, but he got talking to the foreman. So much of this business is networking. Apparently the Atlanteans have a multimillion-dollar export business selling ice cream across the galaxy. Mr. Krabs is now hard at work on his newest menu item: Krabby Patty in a cone. Oh, I can't wait to try it!
  • [The player enters the fourth area.]
  • SpongeBob: Man, it has been more fun than a barrel of Krabby Patties talking to you. See you soon, right back here in Bikini Bottom. Bye!
