Slamvils are characters that appear as enemies in the video game The Cosmic Shake.

Description

Slamvils are small square creatures that vaguely resemble fish, as they have a small tailfin on their backside. They have a pair of antennae, and their faces feature large chubby cheeks.

Role in game

Slamvils are semi-common enemies that first appear in Pirate Goo Lagoon and appear in some of the later levels, especially Prehistoric Kelp Forest and Medieval Sulfur Fields. They fly around in the air, and when they notice SpongeBob they position themselves directly above him, inflate themselves to grow bigger, then slam themselves down in an attempt to crush him. This attack also generates a shockwave once a Slamvil hits the ground, requiring SpongeBob to be a fair distance away from it in order to avoid taking damage. Slamvils also appear in some slide sections, where they fly up to the track and drop Stone Tikis to try to block SpongeBob's path.

After a Slamvil performs its attack, it becomes dazed for a few seconds, providing a brief window to defeat it before it recovers and starts flying again. Alternatively, Slamvils can be stunned by trapping them in a bubble, which leaves them dazed on the ground once the bubble pops. In either case, they only take one hit to defeat. They drop four jellies when defeated.

Trivia

• The name Slamvil is a portmanteau of the words "slam" and "anvil."
• Some levels contain a hidden section where a lone Slamvil can be found singing. Staying in this area long enough to hear the full song rewards the player with the Music Enthusiast achievement.
