Synopsis[]
Art director Nick Jennings discusses the idea of time travel for "SB-129," mentioning that the main obstacle with that episode was the chrome backgrounds for the future. He goes to talk with painters on the series' crew about various aspects of the painting process.
Jennings discusses coloring and airbrushing with background painter Peter Bennett, giving him tips about highlighting and shifting while he works on an exterior shot of Bikini Bottom. Jennings then details the next part of his job, making sure the props, characters, and models align with the backgrounds. He discusses characters' reference cells and background alignment with another background painter, Calvin Liang, while he works on his painting.
