This will be the first episode where a sea turtle appears in the SpongeBob SquarePants, having previously only been mentioned in "Chum Caverns."
This is the third episode to use sand as the title card background, the first being "Rise and Shine" and the second being "Sand Castles in the Sand."

When the turtle is playing the song on the record player, a Kiss reference can be seen in the background.
The band Lynyrd Squidyrd is a reference to the American rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.
