The thirteenth season of the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, created by former marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, was announced by Vincent Waller on Twitter on July 14, 2019. On July 17, 2019, it was announced that there were originally supposed to be "13 half hours" in season 13. However, on August 11, 2021, it was announced that the number of episodes had been extended to "26 half hours." Season 13 first aired on October 22, 2020 with the episodes "A Place for Pets" and "Lockdown for Love" and ended on November 1, 2023 with "Sandy, Help Us!" The season was released on DVD on December 5, 2023, 1 month and 4 days after it had completed broadcast on television. The season was also released on Paramount+ on July 10, 2024, 8 months and 9 days after it completed broadcast on television.

• The season 13 wrap party was announced by April "Pinkie" Davis on December 23, 2023, and occurred on January 18, 2024. It was originally supposed to occur in November of the previous year.

  • However, season 2 of The Patrick Star Show is the most in-order season in terms of its episodes airing in the proper packaging order of the franchise overall.
• This season marks a brief return of various former SpongeBob crew members, including Richard Pursel, Ben Gruber, Heather Martinez, Bill Reiss, Benjamin Arcand, Adam Paloian, and Ryan Kramer.
  • This season also sees a brief return of various former SpongeBob cast members, including Christopher Guest, Brian George, and Steve Buscemi, however Christopher Guest and Brian George returned with new characters to voice while Steve Buscemi returned to voice a character he already voiced in a previous episode.
• The episodes "Lockdown for Love," "Delivery to Monster Island," and "Spatula of the Heavens" were all storyboard driven.
• This is the first season for several things:
  • The first season without Stephen Hillenburg's involvement following his death in 2018, although Vincent Waller, one of the current executive producers and showrunners, said he is still credited because he created the show.
