Sean Patrick Dempsey (born June 26, 1966; age 58) is a crew member of SpongeBob SquarePants as an animation director, and in a few episodes he is credited as a timing director.
He is an animation director who frequently collaborated with Andrew Overtoom and Michelle Bryan.
Biography[]
Sean Dempsey was an animation director who formerly worked on SpongeBob SquarePants. He was usually teamed up with Paul Tibbitt and Mark O'Hare and occasionally Sherm Cohen in season 1, but beginning with season 2, he was mostly teamed up with Jay Lender, Dan Povenmire, William Reiss, Sam Henderson, and Caleb Meurer, with the only exception being the episode "Artist Unknown," which was written by Walt Dohrn, Paul Tibbitt, and Mark O'Hare.
Before SpongeBob, he worked as one of the animation checkers for The Rugrats Movie. He also worked as an animator for several Don Bluth films.
He won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program for the season 3 episodes "New Student Starfish" and "Clams" in 2002.
He has also worked on Scooby-Doo, Big City Greens, and Gravity Falls.
He officially returned to the SpongeBob franchise in the episode "Uncredible Journey" of The Patrick Star Show as timing director. Starting with the episode "The Patterfly Effect," he is once again credited as an animation director onward.
