Scooter[1] (Incidental 38)[2] is a surfer fish. Along with Larry the Lobster, he is a common attendee of Goo Lagoon. He is easily identified by his high-pitched, shaky voice and commonly speaking surfer lingo.
He first appears in the episode "Ripped Pants" and is most commonly voiced by Carlos Alazraqui. He was a prominent recurring character in the first three seasons, but from the fourth season onward, Alazraqui has been mostly absent from the show. Scooter's roles and voice have been mostly inconsistent since then.

- Scooter is his main name. It is used in "Party Pooper Pants," The Essential Guide, SpongeBob Rocks!, and What Were You Shrinking? It is also used by his original voice actor, Carlos Alazraqui.[3][4]
- In "The Executive Treatment," his name was Marv.
- In Battle for Bikini Bottom and Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated, his character models are labeled "Fish I" and "Camper Guy."
Description
He is a lavender-purple fish with light purple fins and legs and light green lips. He typically wears light blue swim trunks with a floral design.

He is seen as a big supporter of SpongeBob's ripped pants jokes. However, after SpongeBob pretends to drown, Scooter says "Dude..." sadly and walks away.

Although he doesn't appear in this episode, a fish with his pallette makes a cameo at Mrs. Puff's Boating School.

He directs Sandy to where SpongeBob is.

Scooter walks with Incidental 37B when he spots Mystery outside of the Krusty Krab. Thinking that she is a newly-installed kiddie ride, he tries to find the coin slot only to be sent flying by Mystery kicking him.

He says "Hey, SpongeDude!" as he runs up to SpongeBob. SpongeBob panics and shrinks Scooter with Mermaid Man's utility belt.

He is a devoted fan of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy's rock band "Tidal Wave." He wears a wave-themed shirt and visits the band backstage at the Poseidome Colosseum. There, he asks them where their drums and guitars are, and they tell Scooter that they will use seashells instead.
Trivia
- On the sheet of incidental characters, Scooter is one of the few characters with a label other than his model number. He is labeled as "The Dude."
