"SB BK" is a SpongeBob SquarePants commercial short. In this short, SpongeBob and Patrick share a beachside moment during a Burger King promotion.

Plot[]

The short begins with SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star standing at a beach, near a surfboard wedged into the sand. Patrick, ever the philosopher, remarks, "So surfboards like waves?" to which SpongeBob enthusiastically replies, "They sure do!" The two friends then share a laugh as the short ends.

Production[]

The short was produced in collaboration with Burger King to promote toys based off "SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One." It features animation consistent with the main SpongeBob SquarePants series.

Notably, it was the first piece of SpongeBob media to use "SpongeBob Comic Tag": a music track heard in the short. In addition, it's one of the earliest SpongeBob productions presented in 1080p resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio, preceding the adoption of this format for the season 6 special "Truth or Square" and would later be used officially in season 9. The only SpongeBob media produced in widescreen before this short (excluding the first movie), was "The Endless Summer."

On November 19, 2008, Vincent Waller shared a drawing mentioning a commercial recording on the 10th with Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke, alongside a drawing of Patrick with a surfboard in his mouth and text mentioning "the wave," likely referring to this short.[2]
