Hey, what'd I miss?

Roger is a chick that appears in the episode "New Student Starfish," the book of the same name, and the video game The Yellow Avenger. He is Mrs. Puff's class science experiment.

For most of "New Student Starfish," he is unhatched. According to SpongeBob, the purpose of Roger's egg is to teach the students the meaning of life. Roger's shell represents the fragile line between life and death when behind the wheel of a boat. The light bulb on top of Roger represents knowledge; without its energy, Roger would die.

In order for Roger to live, he needs a working lightbulb hanging above to keep him warm, and is held in an egg holder within a glass box.

Role in episode

While SpongeBob and Patrick argue in detention, the light bulb goes out, causing the two friends to apologize and put aside their issues to save Roger. Mrs. Puff, who was watching from her one-way chalkboard, commends the two for their teamwork and awards them each with a gold star.

At the end of the episode, Roger's egg hatches into a chick, who asks what he had missed.

Role in The Yellow Avenger

He appears in Mrs. Puff's classroom.
