Plot
The begins with Karen and Plankton trying to cook old, spoiled chum, but they failed. Then Sheldon drove a huge barrel of old chum to the place where he usually dumps it. It was a hatch but when Plankton opened it, he realized that it was already filled to the top. Then Sheldon began to look for other places. He tried the well, but it was also clogged.
Along the way, Plankton accidentally stumbles upon SpongeBob, who was walking with Gary. Bob spotted a barrel of chum and asked what it was for. To this, Plankton replied that there is such a holiday (naturally, invented), which is called Chum Day. On this day, the fish supposedly give each other chum. Then SpongeBob agreed to help Plankton make "gifts" in the city, which was in his favor. The two went to Mr. Krabs's house, where they poured chum under the carpet. Then they began to spread chum everywhere, until they finally said goodbye.
SpongeBob went home, but on the way he saw that the chum had splashed out of the Bikini Bottom and flooded, with chum spread all over the streets. The angry residents quickly ran to Plankton and wanted to beat him, but SpongeBob in a Santa hat began to tell and sing about the day of Chum. Then the fish were happy and began to celebrate, but the sanitary inspector forced Plankton to eat all the spilled chum in the name of the safety of citizens.

- A fish version of the mayor from the Broadway musical makes her debut in this episode. She is the third mayor of Bikini Bottom to appear, after the original mayor and Mr. Mayor.
- In this episode, Plankton's chum is light brown and resembles dirt. In other episodes, it is more reddish with visible body parts in it. This is meant to represent the fact that the chum is rotten.
