Plot

The Krusty Krab makes its very first (and only) pizza delivery. Mr. Krabs decides to have Squidward deliver it; Squidward hesitates and asks why SpongeBob cannot just deliver it by himself. Mr. Krabs obviously was not listening clearly and declares "Great idea, take him with ya!", so SpongeBob and Squidward go to deliver a pizza.

However, SpongeBob cannot drive and is still in boating school. When he looks at the lever to shift into reverse, it reads "앞으로가" (forward) and "뒤로가" (reverse) in Korean rather than English. SpongeBob nervously backs up and soon after, the boat runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere. Squidward then kicks the boat but then it starts up again and goes back toward Bikini Bottom.[2] SpongeBob suggests to deliver the pizza on foot, and they start walking. SpongeBob starts singing a song about the Krusty Krab Pizza, and how it is the best pizza on the sea floor. Then they get whirled into a tornado, and Squidward tells SpongeBob to let go of the pizza, but the pizza saves their lives when the pizza inside a box transforms it into a parachute. SpongeBob shows Squidward some pioneer tricks, such as hitchhiking, eating coral, telling where civilization is by looking at what direction moss points, and even driving rocks.

The eternally skeptic Squidward does not believe SpongeBob, but has to reconsider when they end up driving the rock all the way to the customer's house. Sadly, their journey did not pay off too well; the customer gets extremely angry that he did not get the soda he says he ordered (which he actually did not). He berates the dumbfounded SpongeBob and throws the pizza in his face, refusing to pay up. SpongeBob starts crying (and absorbs his tears). Angered that the customer made SpongeBob cry, Squidward knocks on the door and shoves the pizza in the customer's face. After the confrontation, the two drive back to work, which ironically is only a few feet away, but Squidward is already very worn out from the long pizza delivery.

Cultural References

  • Near the end of the episode, there is confusion because the customer did not get his "Diet Dr. Kelp". Dr. Kelp is a spoof on "Dr. Pepper."
  • When Spongebob was driving the car, he was driving on the left side. This means that it is a foreign car.
  • There is a reference to StarWarsIV: A New Hope at the end Squidward is C-3PO while Spongebob is R2-D2 holding the package they fight and want to split up

Goofs and triva

  • Close to the end of the episode, SpongeBob finds a giant boulder that he can drive like a car, after this SpongeBob starts up the "rock car", and accidentally runs over Squidward. If looked upon closely, flattened-Squidward's eyes turn the same color as his skin, most likely an animation error or color mix-up since the episode is old.
  • During Spongebob's dance when he finds the rock, he does 2 push-ups. This is mostly because he's excited, because in "MuscleBob BuffPants", he couldn't even do one push-up. He does, however, do many push-ups in "The Fry Cook Games", possibly because of Sandy's training.
  • This is the 1st title card that has flowers.
  • In the scene where Spongebob says moss on a rock always faces civilization, the shown city is clearly not Bikini Bottom, it is another city.
  • Second time Patrick doesn't appear.

Notes

  1. ^ The truck-driver is voiced by Doug Lawrence, but the end credits for this episode mistake him to be voiced by Rodger Bumpass.
  2. ^ When SpongeBob is trying to shift into reverse, the Korean words for "go forward" and "go backward" appear in SpongeBob's illusion as he starts to hesitate.
