Personality[]

Perch Perkins is a smooth-talking news reporter. He is usually portrayed as the calming voice of the news and is shown to be fairly charismatic. In "Gimme a News Break," he is shown to care about serious news, refusing to report on Harvey's conspiracies until evidence of them being true is found. In "End of Summer Daze," Perch intentionally prolongs his leave from camp and has to be dragged away from his announcement, saying "I'm nothing without my microphone!"

In the Nickelodeon web series The Bikini Bottom Inquirer, Perch's personality is changed for humor purposes. Perch is shown to be rude, egotistical and self-centered. He is highly narcissistic, looking down on anyone as he views everyone as inferior. He is also shown to be insecure. He takes little shame in insulting and making fun of his co-workers, such as Lurch Lurkins, as well as his own mother and ex-wife. He was also narcissistic in one of the episodes of Bikini Bottom Mysteries in which he tried to replace the host of it and is theorized that he replaced the host of the original Bikini Bottom Inquirer host and tried to replace Realistic Fish Head.

Description[]

Perch Perkins' colors are inconsistent throughout the franchise. In his debut The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, he is a dark purple fish with a light lavender front. He also has black hair and dark purple lips. He wears a white dress shirt with a red necktie underneath a dark blue jacket with a golden button. He also usually carries a microphone and wears headphones. "SpongeBob on Parade" uses Perch's orange colors, but shows smears of purple makeup on his face, implying that he uses it to hide his natural skin color. In "Beneath the Bun: Secrets of the Krabby Patty," Perch presents a clip of him where he is colored purple, wondering "did I used to be-?" while inspecting his fins.

In "Once Bitten," he is an orange fish with a light orange front. He has dark orange lips and a lavender dress shirt with a dark purple necktie underneath a brown jacket with a black button. In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, his black hair appears to be a wig. However, he still has black hair on the sides of his head, which means that he is balding instead of being completely bald. He is shown as bald in "Pat's A Li'l Sinker" and "Klopnodian Heritage Festival."
