Synopsis[]
The comic begins with Patchy digging up a treasure chest of old SpongeBob comics and sharing them with the reader. Potty scoffs because he thinks newer comics are better, and Patchy explains how SpongeBob has always been a part of comic history.
SpongeBob debuted in Those Folks Upstairs, a pastiche of early newspaper comics. Two fish receive a visitor, and the husband explains his old friend has come to town, and he said he could stay over. The wife says that he hopes he doesn't plan to "sponge off us" like his other friends. The husband welcomes SpongeBob in, making the wife faint.
The next comic, Li'l SpongeBob in the Land of Horrible Dreams, is has SpongeBob dreaming of himself being chased by an angry Krabby Patty. He then wakes up, promising not to eat any more Krabby Patties before bedtime.
In Spongey Bobb, SpongeBob makes a Krabby Patty with bricks to decorate his windowsill. Unaware, Plankton steals the patty, noticing how hot and heavy it is. He throws it at Mr. Krabs. Krabs sends Plankton to jail, and SpongeBob brings him a cake, although Plankton refuses to eat it, saying "I've had enough of your 'cooking' for one day!"
SpongeBob and the Pirates is a parody of wartime cartoons. SpongeBob wants to help Colonel Krabs for the war, and annoys him into giving him a position: to deliver a secret message to Squidward on the other side of the battlefield. SpongeBob safely makes it across, giving the letter to Squidward. It is revealed that Krabs simply wanted to get SpongeBob to stop annoying him. Squidward lies that the note was sent by an impostor and tells SpongeBob to not leave Krabs alone, and he runs off back to Krabs.
Next is SpongeBuck BlasterPants, themed after sci-fi cartoons. SpongeBuck fires a soap bubble gun at Plankton's robot, causing him and Sandy to be imprisoned. SpongeBuck explains that he did it to get Plankton's guard down while they go to shut off his weapon, as he reveals his blaster is actually a key, impressing Sandy.
Patchy explains that the sci-fi phase ended, and SpongeBob hit his stride in comics. In Bikini Bottom Buddies, Krabs is selling Gary at a pet store. When Krabs tells Gary to sit and stay, Gary does not do anything. SpongeBob is impressed and buys Gary, with Krabs remarking that if SpongeBob had stayed longer, he could have sold him all his pet rocks.
In Barnacles, a parody of Peanuts, SpongeBob is talking to Patrick about failing his driver's test again. He talks about how lucky he is to have Patrick by his side, only for Patrick to have not been listening.
Patchy advises the readers to bury their own comic collection. It turns out that in the meantime, an old lady built her house on the property, and calls the police on Patchy for digging holes on her yawn.
