Synopsis[]
Squidward is creating a realistic painting of his Easter Island Head. He is interrupted by SpongeBob and Patrick, who want to learn how to paint as well as Squidward. Irritated and hoping to keep them away from him, Squidward gives them their "first lesson," which is to paint in their own yards.
Patrick paints a tic-tac-toe board while SpongeBob draws his house with a spiral staircase and a lightbulb on top. Angrily, Squidward tells them that in order to master realism, they must only paint "what's really there" and cannot be creative. SpongeBob still wants to paint fantastic landscapes, so he decides to paint everything "so it's really there." He starts by giving his house a makeover, and then turns Patrick's rock into a painted Krabby Patty.
SpongeBob turns everything in his house into something interesting to paint. He turns his couch into a swarm of jellyfish, his television into Mr. Krabs, and his bed into a boatmobile. His painted creations become real, and he drives his boatmobile around Squidward's house like a racecar. Driven insane, Squidward decides to paint his own house into something imaginative, but it just becomes a pile of green paint.
