Synopsis[]
The episode starts as Mr. Krabs heads towards the outhouse, but it explodes as soon as he tries to open the door. SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward go to check on him, as Mr. Krabs immediately yells at them, asking which one is responsible for blowing it up. They all try to speak over each other before Mr. Krabs quiets them down. Mr. Krabs, now as a judge, asks Squidward to explain his story first.
Squidward starts to explain his side of the story. In his flashback, he notices SpongeBob and Patrick snoring and heads outside. He plays "Reveille" on his clarinet, as the other campers sing around him. When Squidward finishes playing, he heads back to his cabin, with the other campers being stopped by Bubble Bass. Inside, SpongeBob gives Squidward a face mitten. Squidward decides to throw it away with the rest of SpongeBob's oily rags and heads to the outhouse. After Squidward dumps the oily rags into the outhouse's toilet, Mr. Krabs concludes that Squidward is responsible for the damage.
Mr. Krabs is about to make Squidward rebuild the outhouse, but SpongeBob steps in and says that himself is to blame. He flashbacks to his side of the story, with him thinking that it was a rainy day, but the water was actually coming from Patrick's drooling, while they are still inside. As Squidward leaves, SpongeBob prepares the face mitten. In this flashback, the campers are heard hating Squidward's clarinet playing, and Squidward enjoys the face mitten SpongeBob gave him. SpongeBob takes a cake inside the outhouse, in which its flames cause the outhouse to explode.
As Mr. Krabs is about to order SpongeBob to repair the outhouse, Patrick tells his perspective, with his flashback told in his "diary" made of bread. Patrick wakes up from a cloud and flies around the camp. Aliens attack the camp, resulting in Patrick becoming a superhero to fight them off. Mr. Krabs interrupts the flashback, since it had nothing to do with the outhouse. Patrick says that he went to the outhouse to "share" Plankton's chili with it, dumping it down the toilet, blowing up the outhouse.
Mr. Krabs can't decide which story to believe. Preda Tory soon shows up, using a spell to summon the outhouse's ghost. The outhouse ghost appears from underneath the explosion, saying SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward are all at fault, but so is Mr. Krabs. The outhouse ghost tells them that Mr. Krabs has been dumping Pearl's dirty diapers into it. The outhouse ghost dumps the trash on all four of them before leaving. Preda Tory leaves as Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward all rebuild the outhouse. After a week of them building it, Mr. Krabs goes inside the outhouse. SpongeBob notices a nail still on it, which Patrick pounds with a mallet, launching Mr. Krabs up, and the outhouse explodes again after he lands. Patrick cries after the outhouse is destroyed, and the ghost emerges, saying "Here we go again!" as the episode ends.

Trivia[]
General[]
- This episode was paired up with a rerun of "What About Meep?" during the Nickelodeon premiere.
- Both this and the next episode in production order involve ghosts.
- This marks the first time that "Witty Fellow" plays since "Kracked Krabs."
- It is also the first time "Hawaiian Cocktail" is played since "Burst Your Bubble," though that track has yet to return in the main series.
Episode references[]
- Patrick appears with his clown outfit from "The Treasure of Kamp Koral" after Squidward says "see you clowns later."
Cultural references[]
- Mr. Krabs being told three different stories about how the outhouse exploded is an example of the Rashomon effect.
Errors[]
- In the beginning of the scene where Squidward tells his story, his head appears entirely seafoam green apart from his eyes and tongue. This is probably due to a texturing error.
