— Old Man Jenkins, "Sailor Mouth"
|
Old Man Jenkins, also known as Incidental 86[1], is an incidental character who first appears in the episode "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy." He is likely classified as an elderly-type incidental.
Description[]
He is a big yellow elderly fish with light orange liver spots, purplish-red veins on his neck, and stubble on the top of his head and on his chin. He wears a teal hospital gown with a white tied up collar and rides in a bamboo wheelchair with red wheels. In his older appearances, he was light blue and the veins on his neck were black. He also wore a lime green turtleneck sweater with a dark teal collar and his wheelchair had green sides and his wheels were brown in the middle. The bamboo frames and the seashells near his feet also had black outlines instead of the default default brown outline for the frames and the default red outline for the shells.
Names[]
Old Man Jenkins is the most consistently used name for Incidental 86 in the franchise, as well as the only generic name used for him. It was used for him in "Sailor Mouth," "Missing Identity," and the original storyboard of "The Sponge Who Could Fly" (before being replaced by a new character named Old Man Jenkins).
Role in series[]
Old Man Jenkins has made a few appearances throughout the series. Like most elderly incidentals, he is not too common due to normally being portrayed as a Shady Shoals Rest Home resident.
Major roles[]
"Sleepy Time"[]
He is seen running away from a building after it gets zapped by Plankton in his dream.
"Sailor Mouth"[]
He is seen at the Krusty Krab in response to SpongeBob and Patrick's foul language where he says to himself "I thought this was a restaurant, not a gutter mouth convention." Later in the episode, as Betsy Krabs steps on a pebble, she is heard using an implied swear word due to the amount of pain her foot is in. However, it is then revealed that the honking censorship sounds were just coming from his car.
"Idiot Box"[]
He appears as a professor on TV solving an equation for a box while Squidward is channel surfing on his television.
"Doing Time"[]
He is one of the seniors at Shady Shoals whose white clothes get ruined by the big flood of fruit punch due to Tom opening a window for them.
"Krusty Krab Training Video"[]
He is one of the residents at the Rusty Krab.
"Missing Identity"[]
SpongeBob is shown greeting him while on his way to the Krusty Krab during his memory.
"The Sponge Who Could Fly"[]
In the original storyboard, he was going to be the farmer, sailor and cannonball man instead of the newly introduced Old Man Jenkins.
"Wigstruck"[]
He is part of the angry mob going after SpongeBob and Sandy with Sandals pushing his wheelchair.
"Born to Be Wild"[]
He is shown to be a member of the Mild Ones.

"SpongeBob's Last Stand"[]

"SpongeBob's Place"[]
He is one of the customers who arrive at the Krusty Krab when SpongeBob and Mr, Krabs return there.
"No Pictures Please"[]
He accidentally rolls his wheelchair over Plankton at the Krusty Krab.
"Moving Bubble Bass"[]
