Synopsis[]
SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy are all bored of their usual daytime routine. They try to spice things up by going down the zipline differently, but end up crashing. They try various extreme activities, but find all of them boring. As they eat dinner, SpongeBob suggests they make their own challenge. Sandy comes up with the idea to stay up all night, which SpongeBob and Patrick are curious about. SpongeBob claims a camper who tried it once went mad and had to live in a tree in the forest, but Sandy claims it is just a rumor. The three take on their challenge, waiting until nighttime and then setting up decoys to make it seem like they are in bed.
When Perch announces the curfew, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy escape through a trapdoor. Squidward checks in, falls for the decoys, and goes back to his room. Patrick is scared of the darkness, when he, SpongeBob, and Sandy are frightened by Preda Tory and run away. They hide behind the general store, only to see Mr. Krabs patrolling outside. They have to silently get away, but Patrick accidentally sets off a series of loud appliances and attracts Krabs' attention. Krabs chases SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy into the woods. Mrs. Puff, who had been pulling off a burglary, throws a safe on him from on top of a cliff. Krabs is knocked out and Mrs. Puff tells the kids not to talk about this again.
SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy run away and end up outside Narlene and Nobby's shack. They decide to ask her for some Sugar Squeeze to stay awake, with Patrick giving her a messy wake-up. Narlene agrees, but in her half-asleep state, accidentally gives them some Sleepy Squeeze, which only makes them more tired. SpongeBob starts to fall asleep, when he is frightened by the camper in the tree. He rallies up Patrick and Sandy to get through the night.
They walk into the forest, where they begin to hallucinate a tree talking to them. Suddenly, a princess named Rhiannon banishes the tree. She tells them they are wide awake and have made it to 3 AM, meaning they made it through the night. They are scared by another sound in the forest and walk back to camp, where everyone is waiting for them. They are welcomed with a celebration ceremony with Mr. Krabs giving them their badges and Mrs. Puff giving them a comfy bed to sleep in. It suddenly turns out that SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy have fallen asleep in the forest, with Rhiannon giving them a blanket and then flying away. The kid in the tree says, "Good night, everyone! Sleep tight!"
