Night of the Robot is a horror movie that haunted SpongeBob to believe that robots are taking over the world. It is shown in the episode "Krab Borg."

Synopsis[]

Robots start taking over the world and chase people around. It is not confirmed why they wanted to take over the world, but it is most likely that they want to free their fellow appliances. In appearance these robots are metal gray with two vertically-positioned red bulbs for eyes, walk slowly with flat feet, and have large pincers for hands. They also run on batteries, speak in a matter of beeps, and cannot love, cry, or laugh.

While the robots are battling, the main hero and one of his friends gang up and interrogate a robot for information, but what they find out is that the robots do not actually exist; it was all their imagination.

Role in the episode[]

SpongeBob watches the movie one night and Gary tells him he would have nightmares, but SpongeBob ignores him. As Gary predicted, SpongeBob begins to have nightmares about being robots taking over the world. The next day, while at work, SpongeBob hears Mr. Krabs talking to his radio and begins to think he was a robot. After several coincidences, Squidward begins to think so as well. The duo then tie Mr. Krabs up and interrogate him. After smashing several electronic appliances, they try to do the same to the cash register, but Mr. Krabs cries and begs them not to smash. After Squidward asks SpongeBob how the movie ended, SpongeBob remembers that it ended with it being revealed there was no robots at all and it was all their imagination. Realizing his mistake, SpongeBob leaves while Squidward nervously starts sweeping the remains of the appliances as Mr. Krabs yells his name.

Trivia[]

  • The man running from the robot is portrayed by Dee Bradley Baker.
  • SpongeBob describes the interrogation of the robot as "getting the poop."
