Nigel George Planer (born February 22, 1953; age 71) was the voice of Dr. Marmalade in the episode "Chimps Ahoy." He also narrates a show currently on Nicktoons UK called Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids. Most of his voice acting roles are being the narrator for audiobooks.
Biography[]
Nigel George Planer was born on February 22, 1953 in Westminster, London, England. His father's Hungarian-Romanian family left Germany in 1933 and settled in Mortlake, London. Planer has two brothers. He studied at the University of Sussex before leaving to become an actor. He went to study acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He is a founding member of the London Comedy Store and original member of The Comic Strip, which are pioneers of the alternative comedy movement in the United Kingdom. Planer made an appearance with Peter Richardson as part of the double act "The Outer Limits". They also wrote the "That's Life!" parody Not the Nine O' Clock News. Over the next twenty years he went on to star in film, theatre, and television. He created the spoof actor character "Nicholas Craig" with Christopher Douglas. This character appears in book, radio, TV, and articles, as well as live shows. Planer is also the author of several books, plays, radio plays, TV scripts, and some poetry. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Edinburgh Napier University in June 2011.
