Nickellenium was a dual-day event that occurred between December 31, 1999 and January 1, 2000, celebrating the new year in two ways: the first day (December 31) premiered four and a half hours of futuristic-themed Nickelodeon programming, including the SpongeBob SquarePants episodes "SB-129" and "Karate Choppers" - while the second day (January 1) aired a day's worth marathon of "Nickellennium," where kids shared their view on what life would be in 50 years (2050). It spanned a total of 29 hours in the United States, and 12 hours in the UK and Ireland, where it also aired the core Nickellennium programming, but not any new episodes from any shows, however it did lead to the premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants in the UK and Ireland the day after.
