Synopsis
At the Krusty Krab, a customer wants to sit at a certain table, but two elderly people (Old Man Jenkins and Mary) are already sitting there. SpongeBob says the customer can sit at the table when they are done, although the guy said he will pay $5 if he gets it immediately. Mr. Krabs agrees with this offer and kicks the old people out. He then says "money talks." He likes the idea and wishes he could talk to money.
Later at his house, Mr. Krabs forces the money to talk. Of course, it doesn't. Mr. Krabs then shouts he wants to talk to money. The Flying Dutchman appears and says he would grant his wish if he sells his soul. Mr. Krabs takes the offer and the Flying Dutchman throws pixie dust on him.
Krabs then wakes up and thinks it was a dream until he hears his money talk. At first, he is delighted and takes all the money from his safe at the Krusty Krab to bring it home, but to Mr. Krabs' disappointment, the money tells him how badly they want to be spent as it's their purpose.
He decides to spend some of it on fairy princess outfits, corn dogs, and diapers (as the money wanted). Mr. Krabs tries to put the rest of the
money in a bag, give it to a visiting SpongeBob, who is worried about his health. Mr. Krabs quickly asks him to bury it, but realizes that just makes him lose the money, so he takes the bag back and SpongeBob takes it as a sign he is alright.
Later on, Mr. Krabs becomes restless and starts to regret his deal with the Flying Dutchman, even demanding the deal be put off. The Flying Dutchman appears and refuses, he is about to take Mr. Krabs' soul, but Krabs says he already sold his it. Suddenly, a group of monster-like ghosts, including SpongeBob (as Mr. Krabs was short on his payday), are lined up and reveal that Mr. Krabs sold his soul to them too as the episode ends.
Production
After Mr. Krabs is granted his power to talk to money, he wakes up in his bed and finds a nickel in his belly button. It was originally going to be located in his butt.[1]

General
- Although this episode premiered in 2007, it was made in 2006 according to the credits.
- The title and quote Mr. Krabs says is a real-life phrase coming to life.
- Mr. Krabs mentions the episode title by saying "You know what they say: "money talks."
- When Mr. Krabs talks to the money, he asks "Parlez vous Francais?" to it in French, "Habla Español?" in Spanish, and "Ouyay eakspay Igpay Atinlay?" in Pig Latin.
- Even though the various voice actors who voice the Talking Money are uncredited, the one that says "We're money, it's in our nature" is clearly voiced by Dee Bradley Baker since he uses the same voice that he uses for another of his roles Klaus Hessler on American Dad.
- The plot point about Mr. Krabs trading his soul to talk to money is similar to stories about people who sell their soul to the devil, often for power or wealth.
- Mr. Krabs seems to give up his soul often, according to the I.O.U.
- This episode marks the second time Mr. Krabs makes a deal with the Flying Dutchman. The first time is when he sells SpongeBob for 62¢ in "Born Again Krabs."
- This is one of the few episodes where SpongeBob cares about getting his paycheck.
- This episode premiered eight years after "Jellyfishing" and "Plankton!"

Errors
- When Old Man Jenkins and Mary get kicked out, they disappear in the next shot.
- It would have not been possible for them to walk out the scene quickly, due to being on the ground.
- Mr. Krabs says "Only fish can talk!," saying money cannot actually talk. However, Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob aren't actually fish.
- Closed Captions misspell "Habla Español?" as "Habla Españole?"
- In one scene, it looks like Squidward can hear the money talk but it was established that only Mr. Krabs can hear it.
