Mega Bloks is a company that produced SpongeBob SquarePants building sets, before it was renamed to Mega Construx as a separate Mega sub-brand, turning Mega Bloks into toys for children under 4 years, and Mega Construx being toys for children 4 and up. Mega Bloks announced at the 2014 New York Toy Fair that they had gained the rights to produce SpongeBob SquarePants sets after LEGO parted with Nickelodeon. The line had a variety of types of sets, incluiding blind bags, construction sets, minifigure sets; exclusive minifigure bags for big events, like the San Diego Comic-Con and the New York Comic-Con; and various SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water themed sets that recreated scenes from the movie.
