Marc Scott Ceccarelli (born January 4, 1968; age 57) is a SpongeBob SquarePants crew member. He intially served as a storyboard director and writer, and is currently one of the series' showrunners and executive producers.

Biography[]

He began working on SpongeBob as a storyboard director and writer in mid-2010 during season 8. He was originally paired up with Luke Brookshier, following the departure of Nate Cash. He wrote a total of 21 episodes.

He originally left the show in the middle of season 9; during the hiatus, he served as a storyboard artist for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. As the ninth season resumed production, he returned to work as the show's animatic director; he was credited as such for a total of four episodes, from "Company Picnic" to "What's Eating Patrick?" Starting with "Patrick! The Game," Ceccarelli, alongside creative director Vincent Waller, became the new showrunners and supervising producers, succeeding Paul Tibbitt, who previously held the position since season 4. In addition, he was also known to have written and storyboarded an early version of "Pineapple Invasion" from this half of the season before being promoted to showrunner.

He won the 2018 British Academy Children's Awards in International Animation and the 2018 Daytime Emmy Award in Outstanding Children's Animated Series for his work on SpongeBob.[1][2][3]

In season 12, Ceccarelli was promoted to co-executive producer, alongside Waller. Near the end of the season and early on during the next season, they also directed a few episodes of the series, beginning with "Who R Zoo?." However, they were always uncredited when they serve as supervising directors.

Ceccarelli and Waller also served as the showrunners and co-executive producers for Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years and early episodes of The Patrick Star Show. Midway through season 13 and the first seasons of the spin-off shows, they were both promoted to executive producers.

Besides his work on the franchise, he is also known for his work on the Cartoon Network series Uncle Grandpa as a crew member and Phineas and Ferb and The Drinky Crow Show as a writer and storyboard artist.
