Red Mist

Squidward's Suicide 1

The most popular image associated with "Red Mist"

"Red Mist" (also known as "Squidward's Suicide") is an urban legend written around 2010. This story was extremely popular and widely circulated in the early 2010s, and it introduced phrases that would be used in "copycat" Internet stories to the point of cliché, such as "hyper-realistic."

The narrator of the story claims to have worked at Viacom (the company that owns Nickelodeon and its shows) and received early access to future SpongeBob episodes. He recounts his experience watching the episode with other interns.

The most commonly-shared version recounts a disturbing and morbid episode (supposedly produced in place of "Fear of a Krabby Patty") about Squidward performing poorly at a clarinet recital. Squidward mourns his failure while illegal photos of dead children taken by a shadowy photographer flash as subliminal messages. The story culminates with a scene of Squidward in his room, having shot himself in the head. A popular image associated with the story depicts Squidward with bloodshot eyes. The "lost" episode has been recreated several times and in different formats on YouTube.

SpongeBob in RandomLand 173

Red Mist Squidward from "SpongeBob in RandomLand."

The episode "SpongeBob in RandomLand" briefly features a character known as Red Mist Squidward, which is a direct reference to the story. Additionally, Ego Plum composed a music track specifically for this character's scene, titled "Red Mist Cue." Storyboard artist Adam Paloian, writer Kaz, and showrunner Vincent Waller all confirmed that the reference was made intentionally to poke fun at "truly silly, 'trying to be dark' fan fiction." The scene featuring Red Mist Squidward was cut in UK airings due to its frightening nature, and was later replaced with Baby Squidward in US airings in November 2019 for the same reason.

SpongeBob and the Cave

This CGI short was uploaded on YouTube in 2015 shows the theme song being disorted. It starts with SpongeBob wandering around in the cave and gets eaten by a sea monster. This original upload was taken down by YouTube due to copyright reasons. And in 2016 the original finally re-uploaded by the same creator.

SpongeBob (Speedy)

Many SpongeBob episodes posted on YouTube are often sped up, because of copyright from Viacom (who own Nickelodeon, which airs and produces SpongeBob). It is one of the oldest SpongeBob-related phenomena on YouTube dating back to pre-copyright removal status which has been around since 2007. They can be specified as two types: Chipmunk and non-Chipmunk. Chipmunk is based from Alvin and the Chipmunks, as the characters' voices have been made higher-pitched. Non-Chipmunk involves the characters speaking with their regular voices (making them easier to understand), but the rest of the episode is sped up.

SpongeBob Backwards/Reverse

File:SpongeBob SquarePants Intro Instrumental REVERSED, REMASTERED

SpongeBob Theme reversed (no lyrics)

This features episodes of SpongeBob played in reverse to express humor and at times, people notice hidden sentences in it. A similar phenomenon called "SpongeBob Theme Song in Reverse" plays the song backwards often with lyrics showing it has inappropriate lyrics in reverse (especially on "Drop on the deck and flop like a fish"). There is also a phenomenon in which SpongeBob and Patrick speak backwards from Opposite Day played in reverse to show what they are really saying.

The Story of Evil SpongeBob

The story is a parody of killeryoshis's The Story of Evil Elmo. The story starts that SpongeBob turns evil, he killed all his friends including the Bikini Bottomites committed crimes like robbing banks and bombings, drug dealing, and shooting innocent fish. This video was taken by YouTube due of violating community guidelines, and the channel that made the video has been terminated in 2017.

Violent SpongeBob

These videos depict SpongeBob committing various acts of violence such as SpongeBob Kills Patrick and SpongeBob Goes Crazy With An AK-47. These videos are very bloody and graphic. The purpose of these videos is entertainment but they sometimes offend some viewers. Other videos other than these show SpongeBob killing characters from other children's cartoons, video games, movies, etc.

You Have Met Spongebob on Club Penguin

You-have-met-SpongeBob!

This meme includes a Club Penguin character waving to SpongeBob while the notification box says, "You have met SpongeBob! Would you like to give him a high-five and rob him afterwards?"

SpongeBob Bootleg Episode

SB Bootleg

SpongeBob Bootleg Episode is a Creepypasta. It contains an edited version of Dumped. The only image in it was a picture of SpongeBob with big, bloodshot eyes and no mouth. The rest was either color images or black screens. Most versions of the image are actually animated Gifs that feature Spongebob blinking once the viewer stares at it long enough.

SpongeBobs Fresh Start

SpongeBobs Fresh Start is a Trollpasta.  The story has a similar plot to Squidwards Suicide. The only real diffrence between the stories is that its a retelling of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air theme but with SpongeBob instead of Will Smith. This story is a form of trolling referred to as: Fresh Princing

SlendyBob

Maxresdefault (5gty

Similar to The Story of Evil SpongeBob and Violent SpongeBob it's a two season YouTube series that another SpongeBob comes out of nowhere and turns evil which it reveals an edited version from "WhoBob WhatPants." He started killing other fishes including his friends except Mrs. Puff who has to kill SlendyBob. And in the second season everyone turns evil and they are about to kill SpongeBob, until the final episode of the series SpongeBob is being killed, and our only hero is DoodleBob.

The whole entire series is being blocked and taken down by B_Viacom, because of the episodes that were edited from the series, and other users started to continue the series like "The Return of SlendyBob" which the video has different characters in video games, so it doesn't get blocked by B_Viacom.

When it is over, the camera zooms in to Patrick and SpongeBob sitting there with surprised faces on. This face (or similar) is also seen in "Scavenger Pants" when SpongeBob and Patrick see the Badlands. People will take Patrick and put him in some other picture or gif with a surprising event going on. This meme has become extremely popular, and has even been used by Nickelodeon, as in KCA's Starstruck Patrick for 2015 and 2016.

Gentle Breeze fad

File:Squidward

An example of this fad

One of the songs composed by Manabu Namiki, for the game Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2, 'Gentle Breeze' became a very popular fad music on YouTube when a user named Kortez3000 posted a 11 second video called 'Morbid Krabs' consisting of a picture of Moar Krabs heavily edited with effects with this song in the background.
Since then, many users have made fads like that one, with images of Skodwarde, the morbid SpongeBob close-up from What Ever Happened to SpongeBob? and from other memes/episodes.
In other videos related to this, that background music is often edited and there's a picture of someone at the end saying "Yes!". The most famous example of this is an image of Squidward smiling at Mr. Krabs from Prehibernation Week.

Portrayed by SpongeBob

Portrayed by SpongeBob is a popular meme/video category where people take clips from SpongeBob episodes alongside a picture in the corner of what the clip is portraying, which can be movies, TV shows, websites, businesses, video games, or pretty much anything.
