, with the original building now on top of a large tower. Mr. Krabs explains that while he was on vacation, he was shocked by his outrageously high hotel bills, totaling up to $345.00 (mostly shocked at a $25 hamburger he had), and realized how much money hotels can make. He says that the employees there lived by a code: "We shall never deny a guest even the most ridiculous request", which was on a gold plaque above a fireplace in the hotel he stayed at. A customer enters to buy a Double Krabby patty with cheese, then leaves when Mr. Krabs tells him that he must book a hotel room to order room service to eat their food. Patrick soon arrives, and becomes

the hotel's first actual guest. After signing the register, which he believed was a test, Squidward carries Patrick's bags (which were full of rocks), and he tries to take the guest elevator, but Mr. Krabs stops him and explains that he must take the "employee elevator", which is in fact a staircase. Patrick then requests Squidward several more times for ridiculous reasons. Whenever Squidward got to the bottom of the hotel, Mr. Krabs told him to go back up to do something that Patrick wants. After failing to give Patrick a "bubble bath", he quits.

He walks out the door and comes back as a vacationer instead of an employee. He demands a room on the top floor and that Mr. Krabs to carry him to get there. Then he ordered a krabby patty for Mr. Krabs to eat because it had hair and toenails, for humor obviously. Also, Patrick had all the cheese which were supposed to be on that Krabby Patty. He then wanted his cookies like the ones his mother makes which Krabs resentfully had to get. THEN, he wanted Krabs and Spongebob to repaint his room only to get it back to its original state. He then wanted an indoor pool. After getting an indoor swimming pool, Patrick jumps in, and the force causes the hotel to collapse, leaving only the original Krusty Krab standing.

Patrick, SpongeBob, Squidward and Mr. Krabs luckily survive, but end up in the hospital with massive injuries. When Mr. Krabs sees the hospital fee ($15,000), he scraps the idea of a hotel and tells Squidward, SpongeBob and Patrick that they are going to medical school, much to Squidward's dismay and SpongeBob and Patrick's delight.

Quotes

Mr. Krabs: We shall never deny a guest even the most ridiculous request.

  • Patrick: One Krabby Patty and one room, with cheese. Oh, and can I get cheese on the Krabby Patty too?
  • Squidward: I'll like a Krabby Patty with cheese, toenail clippings, and nose hair.
Mr. Krabs: Gasp! You've got to be kidding me!
Squidward: And I want it here in five seconds.
SpongeBob: Aye aye, guest, sir!
SpongeBob makes a Krabby Patty with the ingredients
SpongeBob: Here you are sir.
Mr. Krabs: Well, you got your stinky sandwich, now EAT IT!
Squidward: Oh I'm not going to eat this...you are!
Mr. Krabs: What?! You're out of your mind if you think I'm going to eat that!
SpongeBob: Psst...that's not really a Krabby Patty with cheese, toenail clippings, and nose hair.
Mr. Krabs: [chuckling] Oh, now I get ya, boy! Ha ha! All right, Squidward! [takes a bite to realize it is a Krabby Patty with just toenail clippings and hair, Squidward starts laughing].
Mr. Krabs: SPONGEBOB!
SpongeBob: Sorry Mr. Krabs, we were all out of cheese.
Patrick: [in his room, covered with cheese] Hooray!

  • Squidward: Patrick...what is in these bags, rocks?
[the suitcase falls open to reveal they are rocks]
Squidward: Patrick, these are rocks! Why is your suitcase full of rocks?
Patrick: I don't tell you how to live your life!
Patrick: Squidward, wait!
Squidward: What, now!
Patrick: I don't like crusts on my sandwich.
Squidward: It's a bun, it's all crust. How am I supposed to cut the crust off a bun?!
Patrick: Peel it.

(Squidward peels the crust off, angrily)

Squidward: There, happy?
Patrick: Yay! (eats the Krabby Patty)

  • Mr. Krabs: Oh, that hotel was a bad idea from the start!
Patrick: That was a hotel?
Nurse: Your bill, sir.
Mr. Krabs: $15,000?! [gasps]
Squidward: You're not going to have a heart attack, are you?
Mr. Krabs: Not with these prices! Forget hotels! This hospital racket is where the money is!
Patrick: This is a hospital?
Mr Krabs: Pack your bags, boys! You're going to medical school!
SpongeBob and Patrick: Hooray!
Squidward: Oh, boy.

  • Patrick: Squidward, can you carry my bags up to my room?
Squidward: How can you have bags?! You just found out this was a hotel!
Patrick: This is a hotel?
Squidward: D'oh! SpongeBob! Take Patrick and his bags to his room!
Patrick: What about my Krabby Patty?
Squidward: (annoyed) And bring him a Krabby Patty.

Trivia

  • Krusty Towers ranked as the fourth most-voted Spongebob episode on the Best Day Ever marathon, only behind Karate Island, Wishing You Well, and Dunces and Dragons as the first, second and third, respectively.
  • Why would Mr. Krabs support Patrick when Patrick was never shown paying, except when he gave SpongeBob a tip?
  • Squidward's quote "King Neptune XIV would be nice." This could possibly explain why King Neptune in Neptune's Spatula and most other episodes looks different than King Neptune in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Presumably because they are different heirs of King Neptune.
  • Spongebob beats the sack 10 times.
  • Mr. Krabs was presumably going to turn the Krusty Krab into a hospital in the end.
  • If Squidward quit, why is he worrying about going to medical school?
  • The plaque says "We shall never deny a guest even the most ridiculous request", but one customer ask for a krabby patty then Mr. Krabs denies it.
  • The episode's title is a parody of "Fawlty Towers", a British sitcom.
  • From outside, Krusty Towers, including the Krusty Krab, has 12 floors. But Squidward, after quitting his job, asks for a room on the top floor, which technically should be the 11th floor, but when Mr. Krabs delivers the home-made cookies to Squidward, a sign reads "Floor 17".
  • The collapse of the Krusty Towers may be a reference to the real-life collapse of the World Trade Center in New York during the September 11, 2001 attacks, however, unlike the gas scene from Just One Bite, this scene wasn't removed from reruns.
  • Patrick's drawing is a reference to Godzilla and Jurassic Park.
  • Patrick is shown to be left-handed in this episode, however in You Don't Know Sponge, he is shown to be right handed.
  • Running gag: Patrick keeps on forgetting where he is, saying "This is a ______?"
  • This is the third time someone kept changing something until they got back were they started. the first two were "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost" and "Welcome to the Chum Bucket".
  • Squidward first peeled a Krabby Patty bun in "Bubble Buddy".
  • Mr. Krabs plagiarized the motto from the other hotel that he stayed in. Plagiarism is illegal, so it is possible that Mr. Krabs went to jail after his hospital stay.
  • This episode premiered the day of the 2007 Kids Choice Awards.
  • At the beginning Spongebob and Squidward turned right to walk to the Krusty Krab (Krusty Towers) but later in the episode when it showed Patrick's house was only four hundred yards away the Krusty Towers (Krusty Krab) was on the left.
  • This episode was one of the episodes that were originally supposed to air during Season 3, but didn't and got remade. The other episodes were Whale of a Birthday, The Lost Mattress, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture, and Patrick SmartPants.
  • When Squidward delivers Patrick's Krabby Patty, Patrick wants him to cut the crust off before he eats it. When Spongebob brings the rest of the Krabby Patties, he eats them with Spongebob, crusts intact.

Errors

  • When Spongebob gave the Patties, he said it's 50, but it's actually 18 Patties. Probably more were on the inside of the pile.
  • When Spongebob says "How may I serve you, sir" he has no eyelashes, until when he salutes, then they appear in the remainder of the episode.
  • The first clip showing Mr. Krabs saying, "That hotel was a bad idea" it showed bandages on his feet, but when he says "forget hotels" the bandages shown on the tip of his feet were gone, then when he said "pack your bags boys" the bandages were shown again.
  • Mr. Krabs, goes down the guest elevator to tell Squidward that employees can't use the guest elevator. Technically, Mr. Krabs is neither an employee or a customer, he is the employer.
  • Squidward's bump from the jellyfish soon disappears after they go in.
