The Krusty Krab drive-thru is a delivery service at the Krusty Krab. It first appears in the episode "Pizza Delivery" and makes its first book appearance in Drive Thru. It is the core point of the plot in the episode "Drive Thru."

Description[]

Seasons 1 and 2 and "Smartificial Intelligence"[]

Multiple episodes in the first two seasons feature a drive-thru in the background; however, it was never seen being used, nor was it acknowledged in dialogue at any point. This version of the drive-thru consists of a small round window made of glass which can presumably be opened to take orders. Next to the window is usually but not always a container holding utensils. It was removed from the default Krusty Krab design on and off starting in early Season 2, and consistently starting in late Season 2.

"Driven to Tears"[]

The ordering window is large, rectangular, and lacking any kind of glass. Next to the window is a microphone and a cash register.

"Drive Thru"[]

The ordering window is a smashed hole on the left side of the Krusty Krab's wall. Due to Mr. Krabs' cheapness, the drive-thru consists of a menu written on napkins, a microphone made with tin cans, and a sign made from a noodle.

"Drive Happy"[]

It is simply an "Order Here" sign with illustrations of a burger and drink, and a Krabby Patty speaker.

"Driven to Tears"[]

As Patrick drops SpongeBob off at the Krusty Krab, Mr. Krabs informs SpongeBob that he is in charge of the drive-thru the restaurant recently installed. SpongeBob is confused because he never realized the Krusty Krab had a drive-thru before, though Mr. Krabs tells him that the service was implemented as a result of many citizens on the go who do not have time for a sit-down meal.

"Drive Thru"[]

After Mr. Krabs' attempt to fill a hole in the Krusty Krab's wall with toothpaste fails after the wood cracks and the hole gets larger, Incidental 42 and his two children mistake it for a drive-thru and order from it. This gives Mr. Krabs the idea to install one to the restaurant.

Mr. Krabs makes the ordering window bigger by hammering it after SpongeBob fails to deliver a tray to Larry's S.U.B. The drive-thru eventually results in a fine from a policeman due to all the traffic Mr. Krabs has caused. He immediately demands a Krabby Patty. The mayor then visits and is not satisfied with the cars holding up the drive-thru's line.

Mr. Krabs solves the problem by smashing a second ordering window in the restaurant, which interferes with SpongeBob and Squidward's ability to serve the customers in a quick enough period. As a result, the customers start rioting and Squidward is worried about what they will do.

Mr. Krabs resorts to smashing yet another hole in the restaurant, which destroys the building and dissolves it into debris. SpongeBob jokingly admits that this problem can be fixed if they have more toothpaste.

"Drive Happy"[]

SpongeBob orders a triple Krabby Patty with five scoops of ice cream while he is driving Coupe. Squidward is working at the drive-thru and gives SpongeBob the aforementioned burger.

"Bubble Bass's Tab"[]

Bubble Bass rubs his butt on the drive-thru window while Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob are concerned.

Role in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water[]

Sandy orders from the drive-thru while SpongeBob and Patrick battle Plankton.

Trivia[]

  • It is mentioned by Incidental 166 in "Plankton Paranoia" when he angrily insists that he'll no longer be entering the restaurant and will instead be using the drive-thru from now on.
  • Unlike in "Drive Thru," the drive-thru in most episodes including "Culture Shock," "Graveyard Shift," "Driven to Tears," "Drive Happy," and "Bubble Bass's Tab" has a real ordering window rather than a hole in the wall.
