The Krusty Krab cash register (also called Betsy, Cashy, and Kassie) is a cash register and the co-owner of the Krusty Krab. It first appears in the episode "Help Wanted."
Description
It is a slate-gray or dark-blue cash register whose sole purpose is to store money given by customers at the Krusty Krab, like any other cash register.
Role in series
"SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One"
Mr. Krabs names it Cashy while he is stuck in the ocean by himself. The Flying Dutchman tater to take it away from Krabs, but the thug war ends in Cashy being lunched into the air. It hits Sandy's heilcopter, causing to hit the Flying Dutchman, knocking him out and later crashing into the Goo Lagoon sands.
"Sponge-Cano!"
Mr. Krabs calls it this once again when it is set alight by fire.
"The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom"
Mr. Krabs calls it Cashy again when the Giant Krabby Patty swallows it whole.
Damages
It has been damaged many times, mostly by explosions.
- One could argue that it was injured in "Help Wanted" when the anchovies destroy the ship that Mr. Krabs and Squidward are inside.
- "Employee of the Month": The explosion decimates the whole Krusty Krab.
- "Suds": SpongeBob's suds make the Krusty Krab explode.
- "Dying for Pie": The Exploding Pie incident.
- "Sandy, SpongeBob, and the Worm": The Alaskan Bull Worm crushes the Krusty Krab.
- "Just One Bite": Squidward eats too many Krabby Patties all in single bites and later explodes along with the Krusty Krab due to overeating.
- "Can You Spare A Dime?": The draw is ripped out of it, bending the metal around the hole and top.
- "Skill Crane": Squidward's carelessness destroys the Krusty Krab.
- "Krusty Towers": It was at the bottom of the hotel and was done the most damage.
- "Spy Buddies": Patrick's cannon shot led the blimp to the Krusty Krab exploding.
- "The Krusty Plate": The Spot-Master 6000's explosion destroys the Krusty Krab.
- "Pat No Pay": The trash explosion.
- "SpongeHenge": Destroyed by the sand burial.
- "Stanley S. SquarePants": When Stanley touches the cash register, it ignites.
- "SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One": It goes underwater multiple times.
- "The Curse of the Hex": It is set on fire when Mr. Krabs refuses to serve Madame Hagfish, who subsequently curses the Krusty Krab and eventually sets fire to all the money inside.
- "Sponge-Cano!": It gets burned.
- "The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom": Once the Giant Krabby Patty becomes too big and everyone starts running, it gets absorbed by the Krabby Patty.
- "Eek, an Urchin!": Pounded with a mallet by Mr. Krabs, because the Sea urchin was in it.
Abuses
- "Squid's Day Off": Knocked over by Squidward, causing all of the money to spill out.
- "The Incredible Shrinking Sponge": Squidward uses it to try and squish a sea urchin, before he gets his head stuck in it.
Trivia
- Its name is Betsy in the German version, the name of Mr. Krabs' mother. It is also called Betsy in the Spanish version.
- It is also called Betsy in "Banned in Bikini Bottom."
- Its name is Kassie in Dutch.
- Mr. Krabs got it when it was just a little calculator and raised it as if it was his own child [1]. Like Karen Plankton, it was a calculator when it was younger.
- Mr. Krabs refers to this technology as an automated money-handling system.
- It could be concluded that the register is prohibited to be touched by any non-employee since no one else besides himself, Squidward, or SpongeBob has ever touched it without his worry, as revealed in the "Krusty Krab Training Video."
