1 Krabby Patty

Krabby Patties are burger-like fast food items sold at the Krusty Krab restaurant, in which its recipe is kept top secret in Bikini Bottom

Unique Abilities and Traits

The Krabby Patty is shown to have some unique abilities over the series. Their extrodinarily fantastic taste, along with SpongeBob putting love in every Krabby Patty he makes, seems to have the ability to calm people or animals down. For example, in Dunces and Dragons, SpongeBob and Patrick were saved from the Jellyfish Dragon when it ate one of the Krabby Patties SpongeBob brought, calming it down enough so it wouldn't kill them. Also, as seen in Truth or Square, they can be inflated like balloons.

History

Mr. Krabs made Krabby Patties since he was a young child with his best friend Sheldon J. Plankton, as the only place to get a burger at the time was at Stinky Burger - owned by a wealthy citizen named Stinky.

Eugene and Sheldon wanted to go get a burger there, but Stinky did not like them hanging around his restaurant. Stinky's wealth inspired both Krabs and Plankton to make their own fast food restaurant, so they created their own restaurant in a dump which attracted no buyers. Old Man Jenkins, who was at the dump at that time, throwing away his unwanted scraps, became the first one to try the burger. Howevery, the burger was contaminated and he was made unconscious.

The outcome of the Jenkins incident caused Krabs and Plankton to argue about the burger; when later Plankton tried stealing the formula, it ripped in half - so Plankton got his own batch of burgers and went to start his own business. Eugene Krabs' accidental recipe became a huge success. By combining the burger with the family's secret sauce, he brought his family out of poverty and into riches. Soon Mr. Krabs decided to create a larger establishment, and renovated the failing retirement home, the Rusty Krab. He renamed it to the Krusty Krab. The Krusty Krab became one of the most successful restaurants in Bikini Bottom.

The Krabby Patty had been continually pursued by Mr. Krab's rival Sheldon Plankton. One time, after continually failing to defeat Krabs, Plankton used his last plan - Plan Z, found the truth of the recipe, and sold many Krabby Patties to control the Krusty Krabs customers. Soon Plankton's plans were foiled by SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star. Plankton was sentenced to imprisonment (which might also mean that Plankton was brainwashed during the process, never knowing what the repice is evermore. Kinda like the fact Gargamel found the Smurfs' village but forgot where it is after he left). Mr. Krabs is improving his business every day.

Krabby Patty Recipe

Nick.com has released a recipe to make a Krabby Patty. However, they do not appear like burgers, which they appear as in the TV show.

Ingredients
  1. 2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
  2. 2 tbsp. finely chopped celery
  3. 4-6 tbsp. vegetable oil
  4. 1 tsp. thyme
  5. 1 lb. frozen imitation crabmeat, (defrosted and finely chopped in a food processor)
  6. 3/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  7. 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  8. 2 tbsp. mayonnaise (plus 1 cup for dipping sauce)
  9. 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  10. Salt and pepper (to taste)
  11. 3 tbsp. ketchup (for dipping sauce)
Start Cooking
  1. Sauté the onions and celery in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the thyme, lower the heat, and cook until the onions are translucent.
  2. In a large bowl combine the crabmeat, sautéed onions and celery, bread crumbs, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, egg, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
  3. Shape into rounds by using a small ice cream scoop, then gently pat flat.
  4. Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet. Working in batches (2 to 3 crab cakes at a time) place the crab cakes in a skillet and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. You may need to add more oil for the second and third batches.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Transfer the crab cakes to the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes. The crab cakes can be kept in a warm oven for approximately 30 minutes, or they may be reheated at serving time. Serve with a kid-friendly dipping sauce. Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise with 3 tablespoons of ketchup

Fake Krabby Patty Recipe

This was the recipe seen in the episode "Plankton's Army". It turns out this was the recipe kept in the safe at the Krusty Krab. It's possible that everything but the last part is real. The real recipe was said to be hidden at Mr. Krabs' house, under his mattress. The recipe is:

  • A pinch of Salt
  • 3 teaspoons chopped onions
  • A cup of love
  • 4 heaping pounds of freshly ground plankton

Variations

There are many variations of the Krabby Patty throughout the series.

Jelly Patties

The Jelly Patty was invented by SpongeBob, and consisted of an ordinary Krabby Patty topped with jellyfish jelly. The jelly made the Krabby Patty taste amazingly good, and proved highly addictive to those who consumed it. SpongeBob let Fred try a Jelly Patty and was so entranced by the taste that he served Jelly Patties to the whole restaurant, who all were amazed at the taste. Mr. Krabs saw how good the jelly was and tricked SpongeBob into fishing for all of the jellyfish in Jellyfish Fields so that he could profit off of their delicious jelly. SpongeBob did so and soon captured every jellyfish in Jellyfish Fields, save for one blue jellyfish that had evaded SpongeBob's grasp.

After all of the jellyfish were captured, Mr. Krabs imprisoned them in a factory where he proceeded to drain them all of their jelly, sucking many of them dry. However, the blue jellyfish and SpongeBob caught on to this and freed the jellyfish, who zapped Mr. Krabs before returning home. Having been badly injured and having lost all of the jellyfish, Mr. Krabs took jelly off of the menu.

After that incident, SpongeBob promised to never again catch jellyfish for any reason but for pure sport. As a result, Jelly Patties have not been sold at the Krusty Krab ever since.

Pretty Patties

The Pretty Patties were invented by SpongeBob in an attempt to attract new customers to the Krusty Krab (They hadn't had customers in 36 days due to competition). SpongeBob sold them with Patrick's help after Mr. Krabs and Squidward ridiculed the idea. They are ordinary patties that come in six colors: red, yellow, green, blue, purple, and orange. There was also a plaid patty (Which proved popular with Scottish customers). Their wide range of colors is what appealed to customers and apparently made the patties taste even better than the ordinary ones.

The Pretty Patties proved surprisingly popular, as SpongeBob and Patrick received over 46,853 customers and made millions selling the Pretty Patties. Mr. Krabs saw this and tricked SpongeBob into trading the Pretty Patty Stand in exchange for the Krusty Krab so that he could get paid for selling Pretty Patties instead. SpongeBob eagerly accepted and Mr. Krabs became the sole proprietor of the Pretty Patty Stand.

The Pretty Patties are made with a Krabby Patty mixed with a radioactive painting material, it is unknown of where he got it from.

Unfortunately, the Pretty Patties' popularity was short-lived, as they had several "colorful" side effects on their customers:

  • Colored tongues (Including glow-in-the-dark)
  • Changes in skin color
  • Rainbow trails made while running
  • Many More

The customers got angry at Mr. Krabs and demanded their money back, and chased him when he tried to make a break for it. After this, the Krusty Krab eventually received new customers, and Pretty Patties were never sold again.

Nasty Patty

The Nasty Patty was invented by SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs in order to get "revenge" on a health inspector they thought was a fake inspector. The Nasty Patty is a disgusting version of the original and tasty Krabby Patty. The ingredients are:

  • Original Krabby Patty Ingredients
  • Volcano Sauce
  • Seahorse Radish
  • Mr. Krabs' Toenail Clippings
  • Toilet Water
  • Gym Socks
  • Buns

Synthetic Patties

In the episode 'Selling out', The Krabby O' Mondays used grey material (Believed to be Sea Cow Dung) to make Krabby Patties.

Chum-Wich

In the episode 20,000 Krabby Patties Under The Sea, SpongeBob and Patrick find a submarine while playing and Mr. Krabs tells them to turn the submarine into a mobile Krusty Krab. Soon, Plankton is jealous and he starts his own mobile restaurant submarine too using the bucket-holding hand part of the Chum Bucket. The three fall into an abyss where a sea monster that slept for 79 years has been. Soon, the sea monster gets hungry and SpongeBob decides to feed him. The sea monster buys 640 Krabby Patties, but Plankton drops Chum Charges on them. The Chum Charges explode and they blow holes in the submarine. Plankton, distracted with sinking the Krusty Krab, crashes into the cliff, and he floats down with a parachute to SpongeBob's submarine. A piece of chum goes through the holes, and it lands on a pair of buns. The sea monster tries the new "Chum-wich", and he likes it. Then, more chum starts to go through the holes, and SpongeBob and Patrick cook more Chum-wiches. After his meal, the sea monster complains that he wants dessert.

Soon, Plankton yells and tells the monster that SpongeBob stole his restaurant idea. Plankton then keeps jumping on the telescope of the submarine, and it breaks. Plankton rolls on the muddy cliff, and in front of the monster. The sea monster thinks that Plankton is a chocolate éclair now and Plankton tries to run away from him. Soon, SpongeBob and Patrick return to the Krusty Krab. However, when Mr. Krabs asks for the money, it is revealed that SpongeBob dumped the bills at the bottom of the abyss, because they had to lighten the load. However, they managed to return with 37,000 pounds of colorful rocks.

Health Hazards

The Krabby Patty also has a dangerous and unfortunate side effect. When way too many Krabby Patties are eaten at one time, the consumer will get very overweight. This happened to Squidward Tentacles in Just One Bite when he broke into the Patty Vault and ate too many Krabby Patties at once. Fortunately, Squidward was only reduced to a living head and survived the explosion. However, if one does not have a Krabby Patty after an extensive period, he/she will suffer from Krabby Patty Withdrawal. If one does not eat a Krabby Patty during the withdrawal, he/she will whine about it for a few minutes and/or make a fake order for a Krabby Patty. Like Squidward did when he ordered a Triple Krabby Patty Supreme acting like a customer ordered it.

Trivia

  • Krabby Patty is frequently misspelled in the series.
