Kelp fries are a common side dish served at the Krusty Krab. They first appear in the episode "Greasy Buffoons."

Description

They look like normal French fries. However, they somewhat resemble seaweed with the way they are shaped. They have three different appearances throughout the series.

They are sometimes served in small light red paper boxes that have the Krusty Krab's initials imprinted on them in golden text, while at other times they are served in a white and red checkerboard paper tray.

SpongeBob makes kelp fries as part of a combo meal.

"Kracked Krabs"

SpongeBob makes kelp fries at the beginning of the episode, though he uses Sea Potatoes instead of kelp.

"Shellback Shenanigans"

SpongeBob brings home a bag of kelp fries for Gary to eat when the Krusty Krab runs out of Krabby Patties, even though Gary does not like this food.

"Whelk Attack"

Mr. Krabs offers kelp fries to the sea whelks.

Trivia

  • There is a chili variation of them called "double chili kelp fries," as revealed in "Graveyard Shift."
  • They are a parody of French fries.
  • The boxes they are served in resemble those of McDonald's French fries since they are both red and contain the restaurant's initials imprinted in yellow letters on them.
  • All of its physical appearances are in season 7.
